Today: Four minorities in Cassation
Brozi should be influenced neither by anger toward power nor by pity for the refugees
The President of Cassation must forget that today, on 8 February, instead of a judge he might have been dressed in the robe of a prisoner

No decision is made again on the immunity of Ruli and Ukë

The commission asks the Prosecutor's Office to provide additional material
Yesterday, the meeting of the Parliamentary Mandates Committee continued in order to consider the request of the Prosecutor General regarding the lifting of the immunity of MPs Fatmir Mediu and Ylli Bufi. In yesterday's session, the political body decided to extend the deadline for discussions in order to give the Prosecutor's Office even greater opportunity to present the necessary material to clarify, with documentation, the allegations of corruption affairs. As reported by ATSH, at yesterday's closed-door session of the committee, the PS parliamentary group was represented by Mr. Gramoz Ruçi, who was elected vice-chairman of the Mandates Committee, Mr. Petrit Kalakula, while the PD parliamentary group was represented by Mr. Azem Hajdari, MP on the committee, as well as Mr. Maksim Cikuli, invited MP. A heated debate developed between the two parliamentary groups over the criteria that should be followed in assessing the issue of lifting immunity. According to the version presented by the General Prosecutor's Office, which has not been made public, the fact that Ukë and Bufi are MPs does not serve as grounds to suspend the legal procedures undertaken by the prosecutor's office for their investigation and the defense of the interests of the State. In yesterday's session, a request was proposed for the People's Assembly to meet next Thursday to consider it. Reservations were made from the right regarding the lifting of immunity of one of the MPs, since this was not established under the criterion of criminal responsibility. The same reservation in the assessment was also expressed by those on the right for another MP, since the indictment was incomplete. Under the law, the committee has requested other material from the Prosecutor's Office in order to close the procedure before submitting the case to the Assembly. Nevertheless, some MPs claim that the decision to lift the immunity of MPs Fatmir Mediu and Ylli Bufi may be taken next week in the plenary session of the Assembly.
