TIRANA/An employee of the well-known “Rogner” company has ended up behind bars. A pistol he was carrying without a permit was found on him. The arrest of Qenan Idrizi, 32, a Macedonian citizen, took place yesterday afternoon. He had been detained following a swift operation by the police of Police Station No. 2 on Monday afternoon at the premises of the “Rogner” company, where he had worked for several months. As confirmed by the capital’s Prosecutor’s Office, the Macedonian was detained following a tip received by Police Station No. 2, according to which employees of “Rogner” were secretly carrying unlicensed weapons. The outcome of the police operation confirmed that there were indeed people there illegally carrying firearms. During the search, a TT pistol was found on the “Rogner” employee. After 48 hours in the cells of Police Station No. 2, the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office yesterday late in the afternoon ordered that he be placed under arrest. But two other people also experienced the bitter “taste” of a cell for two consecutive days, one of whom is a student at the University of Tirana and is also a Macedonian citizen. They were with the “Rogner” employee when he was to be searched for carrying an unlicensed weapon. Z.D

TIRANA/ A petty quarrel over a piece of land has cost a man his life. And for this, three people were sentenced the day before yesterday by the Tirana Military Court. According to the court ruling, as stated by military judge Ridvan Shkëmbi, the incident took place in June last year in the village of Qerekë, Krujë. The brothers Ali, Astrit and Gjon Boja killed Sinan Maloku, their cousin, during an argument over the return of a plot of land. Thus, on the morning of June 28, the victim was on his way to work his land when the crime occurred. One of the brothers, Ali, who was a police officer at Police Station No. 2 in the capital, shot the victim with a pistol, killing him. Meanwhile, the victim’s relatives, who had fought with the three cousins, were also arrested. It was the intervention of the local police that made it possible to prevent further bloodshed. And the judges have handed down their sentences: 23 years in prison for the former police officer, 13 for Astrit and 10 months for Gjon. A.P
