The reason for this action was several articles published in “RD” accusing him of having been a former collaborator of the State Security Service. In the draft law he prepared, he calls for the request to open the files of 9 Albanian politicians to be placed on Parliament’s agenda as soon as possible: Sali Berisha, Pjetër Arbnori, Aleksandër Meksi, Bashkim Gazidede, Skënder Gjinushi, Namik Dokle, Ali Spahia, Perikli Teta and Teodor Laço. At the same time, he asked the Constitutional Court to declare the actions of the newspaper “RD”, SHIK Chairman Gazidede and President of the Republic Sali Berisha unlawful. According to him, Berisha has violated several articles of the law “On Fundamental Human Rights” as well as several articles of the “Constitutional Law”. Moreover, Gjinu shi’s revenge appears to seek to go as far as demanding the President’s resignation and declaring the President’s closest associates former collaborators of the State Security Service. “The Court should declare unconstitutional the manipulations and blackmail carried out by the Chairman of SHIK and the President of the Republic”

Yesterday at the court hearing against Ilir Hoxha photo FELIX BILANI Only 5 minutes of closing arguments out of the 8 minutes the entire hearing lasted were needed for the prosecutor to address the packed courtroom at the Tirana court in the second hearing of the case against Ilir Hoxha. Prosecutor Gjokutaj is seeking three years in prison for the defendant, while his lawyer, Arben Ristani, is unable at this moment to present his client’s defense. This afternoon, Enver Hoxha’s eldest son will perhaps learn his fate once and for all, following the unapologetic defense he made of his father in an interview given a short time ago to the newspaper “Modeste.” Ilir Enver Hoxha, who has been under house arrest since April 18 of this year, is charged with the criminal offense of inciting hatred against sections of the population by insulting or slandering them, and calling for the use of violence or arbitrary actions against them. Following the conclusion of the judicial investigation at the first hearing, held last Saturday, the second hearing in this case began yesterday at 1:20 p.m. at the Tirana court. After the hearing was opened by the presiding judge, Mr. Martin Deda, the floor was given to the prosecutor in the case, Mr. Genc Gjokutaj, to present his closing arguments. The unusual presence of journalists, the solemn quiet in the courtroom, the endless flashes from photojournalists, and the prosecutor’s impassioned tone added even more solemnity to the moment. In just 5 minutes, the prosecutor restated the charge, along with his arguments. At the end of his closing arguments, the deputy prosecutor of Tirana asked that Ilir Enver Hoxha be found guilty of the criminal offense of “incitement to national hatred” and requested three years’ imprisonment for him. The prosecutor’s request did not pass without momentarily leaving those present in the courtroom stunned. The presiding judge, Mr. Dedaj, then gave Hoxha’s lawyer the floor to present his client’s defense. The 27-year-old Ristani asked for at least 24 hours “following the prosecutor’s change in the way the charge was argued” in order to prepare the defense.
