The Prosecutor’s Office on the 2 April events Following the suspension of the ruling of 2 April, in which four people were convicted, including the Chairman of the PPSH in Shkodër, investigations into this much-discussed case were reopened several days ago on the orders of Prosecutor General Alush Dragoshi. As the newspapers reported yesterday, Socialist Party deputy and Chairman of the Albanian Parliament’s Laws Committee Fehmi Abdiu was summoned to this institution to be questioned. At midday yesterday, Mr. Abdiu appeared before the prosecutors and investigators assigned to study the case, following the apprehension of a police officer who, according to investigators’ testimony, was one of the people who used a firearm against the crowd. Meanwhile, the principal defendants in this incident continue to serve their “Year ’91 in prison” sentences. “I know they have apprehended a police officer and reopened the 2 April case,” Mr. Fehmi Abdiu explained. “Nevertheless, I was not summoned to the Prosecutor’s Office about this matter because I have nothing to do with it. The members of this committee asked Parliament to make all the speeches the deputies had given on this matter available to them.
