2,000 Albanian prisoners will return from Greece
Agreement on the extradition of wanted persons signed
Around 2,000 Albanian prisoners will serve their sentences in Greek prisons. This has become possible after the agreements and conventions signed yesterday at the Ministry of Justice by their counterparts, the Greek Minister of Justice and Rasit [?] in the same agreement
- so that these persons may serve their sentences in their own country. The leader of the day in prison for most of the convicts in Greece will have further candidacies for Albanian prisoners on the part of the Greek authorities [?].
“From an analysis of this figure and the data from the executive institution and the General Directorate of sentences in Albania and Greece, it turns out that for the convicted there should exist the possibility of the foreign sentence being enforced in their own country,” the Greek Minister of Justice declared yesterday. Such agreements also exist between many other states and powerful countries. On the basis of the agreement, we do not want there to be the possibility of serving the sentence in a foreign country when we also have the legal and human instruments for their return to the prisons of the homeland.
Justice. This convention, signed yesterday in Tirana, will further ease the conditions of prisoners who are also emigrants. The fear of extradition they have had now will be “quite humane”
