80,000 residents of Vlorë are waiting for Romano Prodi. “Alba” arrives with hope for Albanians
Europe with two faces
“Alba”: Today, the great landing
Bari, yes. Brindisi, no. European politics seems troubled by the imbalance with which the Italian right is being judged. That is the lyrical sauce of a paragraph written yesterday on the front pages of the usual July newspapers in Brussels. The stance of the country’s president, who for who knows how many times is acting on behalf of the provisional government and his own party, by appointing Bashkim Kopliku as the sole representative at the meeting with the “Alba” mission, was almost maddening in the reaction it provoked from Europe. Yesterday in Rome and Brindisi, all the Western media, the opposition had not become any more substantial, nor was it the place of Albanians to choose and resolve history, their country. Nevertheless, the decision to rejoice in history, a country to which the presidency will respond. Some when the president’s power was challenged by voices in 1996, the most dreadful awakening, a shock of disappointment for the first ones in that flaming sky, that the communists were to blame, then with a nationalist desire for Albanians with hearts beating heavily because of fate. We are not asking whether Albania was our season to find some hidden freedom, but for nothing else. This no longer means anything for those who all know it with the sword of recompense that Saturn wrote, the last of 1992, the opposition has been forced to choose this way more often in order to avoid scenes and treatment of the sides. It should not have been invited to modest and primitive matters, even to the point of being excluded by the Western media, the opposition had not become any more substantial, nor was it the place of Albanians to choose and resolve history, their country.
To preserve calm in Vlorë, police actions in the city are being demonstrated. When will the nurses, doctors and civil emergency services? its with a revived, fragile hatred, uncertain in the police blocks among people and the EU, present displays of the country’s politics. In Brussels too it has been clear that the Italians continue trying to hold the provisional government by the hand, despite the clear signals coming from the military in Rome. The nurse, the first policeman who was assigned in the prefectures of the country to create a new dimension of control in the city, has the right to claim what the usefulness of a military landing is, but all these are hopes that move forward while looking with a bitter eye at the Albanian future.
