Nano takes the castle of Shkodër
Unexpected visit by the President and the prime minister. The Socialist Party chairman, after six years of fighting in the northern city PD reacts, Genc Pollo: “A visit of indifference and failure” Page 3 Gahе[r?] “deepening” of Shkodër Without noise and almost in silence, (le full) Nano passes with the “weapon” yesterday through the five-century-old castle of the north, after almost six years of undeclared war between the great Socialist from the south and the anti-communist megalomaniac of the north. Nano feels no insecurity and no PD at the entrance to the city, since the only blockade could have been created by a few drunken and nostalgic August 29th men, not by a civilization. The prime minister carried out the unannounced comeback that took him all the way to Shkodër, directly to that personal domain of the President, Rexhep Meidani. But despite and in spite of the firework display of some PD samizdats, yesterday’s visit of Nano to Shkodër put an end to the politics of boredom, entering there, to the rhythm of a fence of opponents, who in vain murmured not a single word. Nano did not transform any speech. He told the rebel nothing d[?]” (showed that he knows) about his governmental reflex to bad governance. The welcome he received and the evident respect showed that the Albanians, at the beginning of the war, have been worn out by senseless commentary and false propaganda that turned this government into an enemy which, instead of bread, offered noise and mockery of the elites. From now on, after 6 years, all of Albania except perhaps some drunken former persecuted person will get used to this government and to the Socialists. And it is hardly believable that old Saliu of Shkodër, detached and truly unbridled, exhausted on the road of Berishism, no longer knows what to do. The welcome reserved yesterday for the prime minister shows that the social-democratic retuy to the former communism of the northern stronghold has been surpassed. The welcome that until yesterday had been reserved for the communist [insult?] Nano has been replaced by a festive readiness as his deputy in the administration is going to be fixed in the place, carrying out the greatest ritual of the North, the visit to Shkodër. Separated some time ago from Berisha and eager to go to the end of the bad thing, Nano apparently felt yesterday that the people of Shkodër do not hate him that much. And with their indifference, seeking yesterday to justify the city and not themselves, they have delivered the final verdict on Nano’s government. Meanwhile, the presence of the prime minister in the streets of this communist city shows the social-democratic retuy for the moments of this confusion and of a demoralized and ignored governance. Shkodër does not want Nano, but neither Berishism, nor even Nano. Lukewarm toward every government, the welcome reserved yesterday marked the first signal of [warmth?] with which communism has been [shaken?] if the PP government undertakes some [pacifying?] action and especially [showed?] the social-democratic retuy toward the former Shkodrans for [f?] former communism. Shkodër will no longer be [soon?] [obstacle?] to democracy in Nano. And despite the fact that until yesterday the north, including the [district?] of [Mart?], described him only as a socialist of comeback and electoral victories and [party?], Nano has now found his time to [displace?] this and perhaps as [doubt?] that his government [above?] the others.
