The United States of America recently suspended the activity of its embassy in Tirana as a precautionary measure to prevent possible Islamic terrorist incidents. On Friday, the U.S. side assessed the risk of attacks with weapons, snipers and the maximum level of security, withdrawing the entire yearly staff with guards.
What is happening here?
First of all, America is learning a hard lesson. In the summer, or already in June of this year, the risk of an attack on American embassies in the East and in Africa had been signaled. Now the numbers, the progressive Albanian intelligence, we were changing operations with government shouts, were making the Kin-Banan approach stronger from the allies. Albania of the year 1993, having American ties, had the alarm. But still it was not understood. America decided. The risk to life could not be taken. Now it is itself in the duty and obligation of the Albanian government with legislation, withdrawing the yearly staff with guards.
An Albanian official has said that suspicious movements were also spotted around the route of the American embassy in Tirana, similar to other events in the region. Above all, the closure comes in a climate of pressure after the explosions in Kenya and Tanzania and warnings of danger in Romania and Switzerland. The American staff has been evacuated and consular services have been temporarily suspended.
