Order endangers Albania, Europe cannot invest
Greek diplomacy warns: Nobody comes with this chaos
pages 2, 19
Now let us also deal with ourselves
Now, with the end of NATO’s campaign against Yugoslavia, the aurora created by the most optimistic statements of the human spirit: Albania is gradually calming down, but the problems, separated and successfully reported by the national and international press, are increasingly about order and security. The plans that are being gradually projected are ineffective. It is time to move, in all its turns, to take stock of what we have achieved and what still needs to change. Since the Majko government there have been daily murders and all kinds of trafficking and vice. During the months of war, it certainly seemed as though the government had won a good part of the battle. According to logic, one should conclude that our country has entered the road of progress and peace. However, the above phenomena may turn out to be entirely ordinary, and the country at this moment is undertaking the so-called "effort": it is logical that better security for the country should be created in these months and until the end of the year. So this is only an abnormal state brought about by Kosovo and not a permanent solution. All this should make us think, so that tomorrow Albanians will not remain disappointed, with their own hopes not remaining only words. If the US and their ambassadors continue to govern, and we make a government with orientations toward our country, Albania will always remain poor. The US has done everything possible and we must be realistic. It helps us and works, in the overall picture of Kosovo, so that life returns to normal. But it is our job to break away from and improve this great situation. The building of the economy, the fragile infrastructure, etc., is being presented as dangerous, because the country is still not ready for investments. It is better for our country to have order than to have countless millions of tourists seeing it. In short, this is the lesson that emerges today from such a situation, where, in the absence of work and peace, the situation in our country continues to remain serious. The protection of the foundations of social life is one consequence that for a time causes foreign investments to be paralyzed. The country at this moment suffers in trying to complete and create a new climate. Now, after we have lifted the heavy burden of the Kosovo war, we must deal more with ourselves. On the other hand, tomorrow, in this situation we are in, we will not have the miracle of charity or of others. From this side of destabilization, only a bitter and dangerous balance will remain. Perhaps now for us it is time for reform and for a different kind of patience. In this great challenge, carried on our shoulders, the future depends on this constant care. If we leave things in the hands of fate, we may see tomorrow in such a poor state.

Tirana
Yesterday afternoon at 18:00 at the U.S. embassy in Tirana, an official reception was held in support of U.S. Independence, attended by politicians, ambassadors, the diplomatic corps, as well as well-known personalities of the country. Among those present at the reception hosted by American ambassador Joseph Limprecht were, among others, Prime Minister Pandeli Majko, President Rexhep Meidani and Deputy Speaker of Parliament Namik Dokle, PD chairman Sali Berisha and PBDNJ chairman Vasil Melo. Ministers from the government cabinet and MPs were also invited. Neither Prime Minister Majko nor President Meidani spoke to each other during the reception, something mentioned by some of those present. Likewise, Nano, as former prime minister, did not meet anyone from his former party. In another corner, he was greeting the American ambassador and former president Sali Berisha, showing interest in bringing them closer together. "There will be no war between us," they briefly exchanged. Under such a regime, the country is still suffering. Those present commented a lot, but nothing official was said.
