Since the announcement of the decision by the minister of local government to dismiss the police has been made temporary, the government administration has reviewed the matter regarding this action and has requested further clarification. The situation created among local officials has brought about different reactions, while representatives of the opposition have called for transparency regarding the procedures followed. Sources close to local institutions emphasize that the conflict is linked to the way powers are exercised and to the relations between central and local government. Further developments on this issue are expected in the coming days.

27 projects approved for the Pact
Stability Coordinator Pashko reports on achievements
Having just gotten out of bed, yesterday the economist for the Stability Pact gave his lecture in Rome, as coordinator of the Pact. Out of the work approved, 27 of the submitted projects have been financed and the Albanian government has valued cooperation with partner countries. These projects include infrastructure, energy, and other priority areas of economic development. It was also said that Albania is expected to benefit from a number of new funds in the continuation of this pact.
