Politics drowned out peace

BY MARTIN LEKA Just like the ailment with the symbolic name “Bastille”, yesterday, 1 June in Laç, a furious and not even that large crowd of people with clubs, bricks and broom handles caused a pre-election rally of the Socialist Party, which was to be held in the city center, to fail. And perhaps this was caused by their disagreements with the Party leader, and perhaps that is not stated very clearly. Indeed, one can trust unique news to some extent, just as one can trust rumors. In fact, this and even the neck refutes the author. Indeed, it was like that too! This ugly scene on the political side managed to rekindle the funeral of a sadness of no small proportions in the hearts of Laç residents. Where calm and peace should have prevailed, instead black clouds screamed with the voice of hatred. Why? Out of spite for politics. Out of spite for the evil that yesterday was sown by a certain part of the militants of one political camp. Some aloud, some in silence. That is yesterday’s truth. Perhaps today’s politicians have forgotten that in this city, on this sacred land, there are still people who love peace more than political applause. Yesterday, not only an election meeting was violated, but also a civic value: respect for the other. Never before has Kavaja, but never was it like yesterday. The attack on the head of government was filmed, seen, commented on. And instead of serving as an alarm bell for everyone, it was used as fuel to ignite the quarrel even more. This is failure. Failure for politics and for society. In a democratic country, political gatherings cannot be destroyed by violence. In a normal state, the prime minister is not surrounded by wild crowds. In a city that wants peace, politics must not be allowed to become the cause of division. Yesterday Laç spoke with a language that was not its own. It was used. It was pushed. It was ignited. And that is the worst part. page 22

The Secretary General of the Presidency is leaving

Daut Gumeni resigns Mediu: This latter one left because he was not suited to the job. Why? The other? Or is it not at the Presidency to place affairs at the president’s side, could it have been Klosi’s brother? Gumeni against the adviser? That latter one was there only for politics. Everything has derived from the president? The latter one was there only in 1996, in opposition to the then-president Sali Berisha. page 10
