While the head of Albanian diplomacy declares that “Macedonia respects the rights of the Albanians,” the Academy of Sciences of Macedonia and Diaspora Minister Martin Trenevski accuse Albania
The Macedonian minister declares: “In Albania, a Stalinist policy of denying the existence of Macedonians is being pursued, and there are 50 thousand Macedonians in Tirana, while throughout Albania there are 250 thousand” (!)

Politics as a Phantom
The man left the house early in the morning and left hanging a remark that “when he comes back he will bring good things.”
He returned late at night and let out a sigh: “Ugh, who will be elected the Party’s General Secretary?” Then he changed the subject and expressed another concern: “The Treasury, woman, the Treasury...”. The children stare wide-eyed, having watched dozens of television reports “about the General Secretary,” “about two party posts,” “about the dynamite and the mërspë,” and are disappointed by the man who has brought nothing home in his hands.
This is what happens in millions of family and individual lives in Albania. In the morning, politics displays its sack of great gifts, while in the evening it brings it back “full of successes in the struggle for secretary, for elbows and factions in the Party.”
Who needs these political “gifts”? They can neither be worn nor eaten; they do not make water or housing, peace or a state. People need these things, while Politics needs those. Politics and the Individ[ual] have become two different sides.
What is happening?
1. The interests of politics have, unfortunately, prevailed over the interests of the individual. It is true that Politics needs statutes and meetings, a secretary and factions; but the individual has no need for these at all. The Individ[ual] has other interests, which Politics should serve. But politics is absent here.
2. Politics is bringing the individual tension, headaches, conflicts and emptiness. It appears like a phantom on television, in newspapers, in cafés, in coffee shops, in m… In this relationship, the individual gains nothing. He is also losing the civic capacity to control his political class. Meanwhile, politics is selling the individual its own affairs as “the business of the nation-state.”
3. Politics is appearing as an extra-state phenomenon, unrelated to two “trifles”: Pragmatism and Governance. A “pure” political line is not very important: if an element of the state is at work, it must bow its head and rest before the Party. The danger of the ideologization of political society is knocking at the door.
4. If Politics continues to go one way and the Individ[ual] another, then there is a risk that one day the political class will also fill the ballot boxes for “paralyzed” individuals. Democracy may continue to be called Democracy once again.
