A SHOUT! Vote for summer and not for patina
As soon as the land workers arrive and then the dockworkers and the Durrës waterfront move about, the landscape of Durrës looks very sad. All observers who are not very fond of the "popular" place ironically call it the "sliding beach for penguins." Everyone turns away. Only when the weather calms down and summer returns does it again welcome holidaymakers. At least that is how it seems.
Instead of soft sand, it is like gel, and when touched by hand it feels more like oil. This is more the result of careless handling at the docks than of the sea’s behavior. But also an unidentified ship that a few days ago spilled around 20 tons of fuel in the waters opposite the port has worsened the situation until 30 September. After that, in the polluted basin, things are being mangled and much of it is spreading to the shore. In these weather conditions this oil slick has begun to simmer. Volunteers from Përlamur have been cleaning, but not only is inappropriate material found there, it is also similar to other sources of oils and liquids. According to environmental specialists, the biggest problem is the wear and tear inflicted on the beach. There is also a serious fact that makes the clean-up work more difficult: this pollution increases every day from the fuel unloaded by ships. If it is not stopped, Durrës beach will be very dangerous for holidaymakers.
Another problem for Durrës remains the discharge of sewage into the sea, which affects the overall state of pollution in the bay. According to experts, the situation is alarming and requires immediate intervention.
