The aim was to begin work on widening and paving the Vlorë-Sarandë road, especially the dangerous stretch of more than 12 kilometres at Llogara. The prime minister's order has mobilized all army units specializing in construction, along with machinery and military personnel, who will begin work towards Himara at the beginning of November this year, where national pride triumphed and politics clashed with the Greek lobbies of Athens. The Minister of Defence, Ilir Gjoni, immediately after consulting with specialists from his department, signed the order to mobilize part of the army to build the road promised during the campaign and needed for the development of the entire Coastal Zone. Thus, yesterday, the challenge began for the two Ilirs to transform the Illyrian land of Himara. Today, specialists from the General Directorate of Roads and Minister Nako's department will travel to Himara to inspect road problems on the ground. After this, the prime minister has asked press specialists to prepare a draft decision for the complete construction of television relay stations for Himara and the Coastal Zone, since for several years this area has been unable to receive any Albanian television channels, only Greek ones, because the relay stations were mistakenly installed in Corfu (Greek territory) and the signal has to this day been controlled by Greek stations (!). This absurdity has continued for several years, so the government is preparing the expenditure needed to bring the Albanian spoken word, on television and radio, to Himara and the entire Coastal Zone. In addition to these promises, the government can and should prepare a comprehensive and effective plan to open the entire Coastal Zone to tourism, since it remains one of the Mediterranean's pearls, where residents can prosper and civilize themselves and the whole country. Thus, the challenge of the campaign's political promises is beginning. If the Meta government starts with Himara and the Coastal Zone, it will demonstrate seriousness, since the government must also address problems in other areas of Albania, which face problems even more urgent than those of Himara. But Himara has the privilege, as well as the right, to make its voice heard when it comes to demonstrating genuine national values, as it did on 15 October 2000, reminding us that the time of Skanderbeg's League is repeated whenever the history of modern times demands it.
