Kosovo, tomorrow in the free elections

BY ALEKSANDËR ÇIPA Kosovo tomorrow, in the conduct of a test of implementation. It is the first event in the electoral calendar to be held in Kosovo. In this context of the self-government process, the security aspect naturally and above all remains a priority. The system for Kosovo is also involving the law-enforcement forces. For Albanians before the war and the information in the political class, it is clear that the importance and the calendar do not diminish the problems of the institutions and the police. The transmission of the weakness of the state from the tradition of authoritarianism for Kosovo at these moments does not inspire optimism. This is the reason why the insistence of the international factor on more focused monitoring and control is also being felt, even to the point of armed KFOR observers. The strain on the structure of the Police for Kosovo, as well as the extreme pressure from the imagined political pressure, comes from the implementation of the institutional reform project. The criterion of self-government for this status takes time for the political moment of democracy. The definition and measures for the system of democratic poles, including Kosovo and the diverse community scene, increase the pressure. The Bosniaks, Turks, Roma and other communities have begun since yesterday to close the electoral campaign. Political opponents are hurrying to synchronize themselves. The culmination of this experience for Kosovo should still include a respectable and democratic institutional agenda. For this reason, by next June, the first parliamentary elections in Kosovo will also be held. In this context, support for the new institutions and the safety of citizens is of particular importance. The citizens of Kosovo, Albanians, Serbs and members of other communities, will tomorrow have the opportunity to elect their local representatives.
