Again this year: we — the ones we were By FROK ÇUPI Recently, under the first newspapers of this winter, I have seen in writing on some scripts for the scenography and the New Year’s Eve scenarios in Albania. Being us Albanians was described among foreigners, and a new year comes to Albania, and tears made laughter as today. “Spies inbred,” the foreign word, a paleological value! Against the proclamation, except that it comes from the coffee jar, we did not do it! We made the mistake again! You also invited us to join together, but you made it clear and now there was a year to be celebrated in the city? And those who were appointed to laugh in this year, with their laughter? And those who held the words and with their hand? Or yes, did they take offense in a feigned way and freeze before the sentimental gaze of our silent writer? The truth is, this Albanian from the cushion with freedom and with just-born prosperity, newly washed by amnesty, newly announced on TV, freshly returned from abroad, freshly caught from the last stage, is a burdened population newly arrived in the city’s “houses”. All this mentality has come out of the vote, so that it would be a mentality underlined by the director’s field, not to be solved in feigned satire. It is a place that gives people another word and does not let them do evil, the Albanian of the third rank, an Albanian raised on the poverty of his forebears.
