PD ELECTION PLATFORM AND SOME ALTERNATIVES FOR THE TRANSFORMATION OF SOCIETY
The Albanian party is coming before the people with a program based on these fundamental principles and concepts: Parliamentary Republic, political pluralism, democracy, market economy, free development of private initiative, equality of all before the law.
The fundamental principles of this platform have nothing to do with betrayal of national interests, selling the country to foreigners, giving away the people's wealth, or distorting our history. We will submit them to the judgment of the people and will implement only what it freely approves.
In defining our strategy, we start from the need for the democratic transformation of Albanian society and from the need to emerge from the deep political, economic and moral crisis. This transformation requires the creation of institutions of the rule of law, the guarantee of human freedoms and rights, and pluralism of thought and political organization.
On the economic level, the Democratic Party defends the market economy, private property and free enterprise, creating conditions so that every citizen has the opportunity to work, earn and contribute according to his or her abilities. This will be accompanied by reforms in the financial system, in the restructuring of enterprises, in agriculture, trade and services.
It is convinced that only under conditions of free competition, individual responsibility and democratic control can growth in production, improvement in well-being and the release of the creative energies of society be achieved.
Our platform aims to create the foundations of an open and humane society, where the citizen is at the center of political and social life and where the state is at his service. This society will be based on justice, tolerance, dialogue and respect for human dignity.

GERMANY
Undoubtedly the center of European diplomacy in these times is Germany. Since the summer of 1987, the unification of Europe has again appeared as a problem of historical and practical character.
In these conditions the role of West Germany in European developments has become ever greater. Discussions on reunification, on security, and on the political balance on the continent intensified.
From the Albanian perspective, these developments are followed with particular interest, since they affect the political climate of Europe and East-West relations.
