1-The news brought by the birds Oh, what kinds and what forms human tears must have! writes the poet Zois Shkodra. The winter birds, in their silent flight over the sea, seemed to me like a tragic message coming from Kosovo. Who knows what deep human sorrow drove them to take this long road! Who knows what faces of death or terror they left behind! Who knows how many funeral bells greeted them with endless groans! Truly, over the chilled Albania of this February, where the sun barely warms it without any convincing or complete warmth, such a journey of the winter birds also contains a kind of good news, but more a shock. They have been brought here by Albanian sadness, that great sadness that has taken hold of martyr Kosovo these days. On 27 January, the news of the Podujeva massacre flew like an injured bird over Albania. In towns and villages, in workplaces and cultural centers, in schools and university, in the hearts of Albanians everywhere, it was felt like a sharp stab. Since 1948-1949 onward, this is one of the most shocking events for our nation. 2- These are people The Council of the Democratic Union of Kosovo called the Podujeva massacre a planned, barbaric, savage, criminal act. And it is true. People were killed for what they are: Albanians. Men, women, and children, with no other guilt than being born Albanian. And civilized humanity cannot remain silent before this tragedy. In this bitter winter, in this heavy hour, we feel even more strongly that the wounds of Kosovo are the wounds of the entire Albanian nation. 3- Hoxhaist ethnocide does not Hundreds of bandages wrap the pains of the road of the 46 families from 25 and 26 January. The bodies of the dead were left tonight on foreign soil. This pain does not remain only in Podujevë. It spreads to Durrës, to Tirana, to Shkodër, to Vlorë, to all of Albania. In halls, clubs, schools and factories, people speak in low voices, but with high hearts. No one can remain indifferent. 4- The other people are preparing Everyone is demanding justice. Everyone expects the world not to pass over this crime as an ordinary piece of news. On the contrary, the Albanian voice must be heard loudly. This is also why hundreds of people gathered in Durrës. The coastal city, with its cold streets and the gray horizon of winter, seemed as if it were carrying a part of Kosovo’s burden on its shoulders. 5- Yesterday, in the premises of the cultural palace It was precisely in this atmosphere of pain and protest that the memorial meeting took place. In the hall there were intellectuals, workers, pupils, students, ordinary people, family members of the martyrs of freedom, veterans. The words were sparing, but charged with emotion. There was talk of the killed, of the children, of the women, of the mothers who weep, of the blood that must not be forgotten. In the end, everyone stood up in a sign of respect. 6- The united Albanians of Durrës This was not just a ceremony. It was a moral vow. It was proof that Albanians will not leave Kosovo alone. That its tragedy is our tragedy. That the tears of Podujeva are the tears of Durrës, of Tirana, of all Albania. 7- Let us not allow silence If this tragedy passes without a name, without a voice, without condemnation, then we will be poorer both as a people and as a conscience. Therefore, memory, solidarity, and protest are needed. Only in this way can Albanian pain be turned into moral and civic strength. 8- Enver Hoxha has not died! The front of inequalities, privileges, fear, and oppression continues to leave its mark. Crime does not happen by chance when such ground exists. If we have learned anything from the past, it is precisely the need not to allow it to be repeated. FROK ÇUPI

In the premises of the foreign delegation building, strange actions are taking place. Petition BESNIK ILIA This is one of the first blows to our new democracy, but perhaps not the last. At least that is how some outraged citizens who came to our newsroom see it. According to them, an unjust act is being carried out against a group of Albanian students in Bulgaria. It concerns about 2,000 manots, sent for them, which are now at risk of being lost. The pension crisis is ruining democracy In the premises of the representation, where the aid was supposed to be distributed, unjustified obstacles have been created. The students have waited, have shown up several times, but the matter remains unresolved. Some officials give vague explanations, while time passes and deadlines run out. According to the complaint, the fund arrived for the students as special assistance. However, instead of being distributed immediately, it is being kept blocked. There are suspicions of mismanagement, negligence, and lack of responsibility. The damage caused is not only material; it strikes at the young people's trust in institutions and in the very idea of a just state. On the other hand, the students are in difficult conditions. They live on minimal savings and occasional aid. For them, this amount is by no means small. Every delay has direct consequences in their daily lives. Our newsroom considers this a serious matter. Immediate clarification, a full investigation, and a swift solution are required. BESNIK ILIA

On 9 February 1991, with the shared desire to develop the predispositions of the Democratic Party and the Republican Party, a meeting was held with representatives of the two political forces. The importance of creating an atmosphere of understanding and cooperation in support of democratic processes in the country was discussed. 1. The exchange of views between democratic forces and their development in a civilized manner are in the interest of Albanian society. 2. All political parties operating within the framework of democratic pluralism must enjoy equal rights. (Continues on page 2) NOTICE About the meeting of representatives of the Democratic Party and the Socialist Party of the Party of Labour of Albania On 8 February 1991 at 11:00, representatives of the leadership of the Democratic Party of Albania and the secretariat of the Party of Labour of Albania held a meeting in Tirana at the invitation of the latter. The Democratic Party was represented by Mr. Eduard Selami, its chairman, Gramoz Pashko, vice chairman, and Azem Hajdari, a member of the leadership, while the Party of Labour was represented by Mr. Adil Çarçani, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the Central Committee of the PPSH, Namik Dokle, secretary of the Central Committee of the PPSH, and Hysni Milloshi, member of the secretariat of the Central Committee of the PPSH. The views of the two political forces on the need for their cooperation in solving the country's aggravated problems by political means and advancing the process of democratization of Albania were presented and widely discussed. It was emphasized from the common position of both sides that the progress of democratic processes requires an appropriate climate of calm, security, tolerance and understanding. PETITION To the President of the People's Assembly b. Honorable Mr. Alia, Today we are outraged by the policy of bloodshed being pursued by the Serbian police in Kosovo. Seventy-three innocent Albanians have been killed and hundreds of others have been wounded. We have followed with indignation the stance of the media and official structures, which are not reflecting the tragedy in its full truth. We demand that the People's Assembly take a dignified and clear position in defense of the rights of Albanians in Kosovo. We cannot remain indifferent to a genocide that is taking place on our national borders. Silence in these conditions would amount to moral complicity.
