Tomorrow is the celebration of democracy. Vote for the Democratic Party!
Tomorrow is the celebration of democracy. VOTE
FOR THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY!
The spring of democracy is coming
THE SPRING OF DEMOCRACY
IS COMING
- Message sent to the Albanian people by delegations from abroad -
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,
BROTHERS AND SISTERS,
How has March arrived too? Like everything else after winter. But this was a special winter. For Albania it was the winter of hope and concern, while for democracy the winter never came.
You must vote for the PD. Because ...[?] the worker, the honest intellectual, the poor peasant, the persecuted, the small property owner. You must vote for the PD because it will be the vote of your conscience. You will vote not only for yourselves, but for your children and for the future of Albania.
You will vote for the PD because it is the vote of freedom, the vote of honesty, the vote of the people’s victory over deception. You will vote for the PD because it is our only hope for a new and democratic Albania.
You will vote for the PD because it is the voice of the young, of the students, and of all those who seek change. You will vote for our European future, for a free, fair country open to the world.

Victory has already been achieved
VICTORY HAS ALREADY BEEN
ACHIEVED
WE ARE MISSING OTHERS[?]
Tomorrow, for the first time in more than 45 years, free elections will be held in our homeland. This is a great victory for political pluralism and for the democratization of the country. It is the victory of those who dared to rise up against fear and silence.
This victory belongs to the Albanian people, to the students, to the intellectuals, to the workers, and to all citizens who believe in freedom. It has been achieved with sacrifice, effort, resistance, and hope.
We are convinced that tomorrow will mark a decisive turning point for Albania’s fate. Now no one can stop the road of democracy.
FOR US IT WAS BORN
For the good of the nation
For the good
of the nation
Taken from a newspaper of the Christian Democrats
Mr. Abraham Lincoln, President of the USA, during the Civil War, in his message to the American people, said that he fully understood the difficult task he had undertaken, but that he was determined to defend the unity of the country and freedom.
From this historical experience we must also draw lessons for our own country. For the good of the nation, we must abandon hatred, revenge, and division. We must support the forces that want national reconciliation, law, democracy, and free property.
Albania needs wisdom, moderation, and strong democratic institutions. Only in this way will we build a better future.

Students vote against the PP
On 26 December of last year, the students of the room ...[?] organized in the town ...[?] a meeting in which it was demanded that Albanian youth no longer submit to the old diktat. In their declaration they denounced the manipulations, poverty, and suppression of free thought.
This was the beginning of a movement that would culminate in the creation of a new political force. The students became the strongest voice of protest and change. They demanded political pluralism, free elections, and a new democratic order.
Today they vote against the PP, because they know that the future cannot be built on lies and fear. Their vote is a vote for freedom, for a free university, and for European Albania.

When the prime minister speaks in metaphors
...at the latest meeting of the Council of Ministers, the prime minister spoke in lofty tones about order, the economy, and the prospects for reforms. But behind the beautiful phrases and numerous metaphors, Albanians are asking for facts, not just words.
Citizens want bread, work, freedom, and security. They want the government to answer for the deep economic crisis, for shortages, for queues, and for the uncertainty of the future. Metaphors do not fill the table.
If power does not understand this, it will lose all trust. The times call for responsibility, not rhetoric.

The world will be watching you. You are not waiting for sincerity
- Written by Jimmy Carter, former U.S. president -
...as far as the Albanian issue is concerned, which is the cause of so much suffering and sacrifice for this small country, it is clear that I am trying to put into writing a few thoughts only as a private citizen and not as a representative of any government.
The first multiparty elections are approaching rapidly, and events may unfold with great momentum. I wish to propose that all Albanian citizens take part and vote peacefully and calmly, so that the elections will truly be historic. I am confident that the winners will act with tolerance and that the losers will be ready to accept the result. It is vitally important for democracy that the steps and sacrifices made along the difficult road of peaceful development be lasting and beneficial. The world will be watching you and will judge according to what you achieve in the days and weeks ahead.
JIMMY CARTER
