THE FIRST STEP TOWARD STABILITY
The joint activity of the front of representatives of the democratic parties
For 26 consecutive days Albania has remained at the center of the attention of the international public opinion.
The complicated political and economic situation, strained because of the general strike, with a clear risk of destabilization, has arisen as a result of the reckless actions of the president of the republic and of the parliament dominated by the PPSH. Instead of seeking understanding and a solution through dialogue, as befits responsible politics, they chose the path of confrontation.
Today the Albanian people face the task of calming the situation and restoring normal life. This requires a high level of political responsibility from all democratic forces and a sincere commitment to avoid confrontation.
The Democratic Party and other democratic forces have called for restraint, for the preservation of order, and for opening the path to political stability. The new government must be based on national understanding and respect for pluralism.
In this context, the creation of a common front of representatives of the democratic parties is an important step in the political life of the country. It aims to protect the national interest, prevent division, and guarantee a truly democratic process.
Only through dialogue, respect for the law, and civic participation can the foundations of stability be laid. Albania cannot move forward with the language of hatred, threats, and political manipulation.
This is a moment of trial for everyone: for the parties, for the institutions, and for society. Each person's responsibility will be measured by the ability to place the country's interests above narrow political interests.
Dr. Sali Berisha for the delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
The talks were held in an atmosphere of understanding and cooperation. Dr. Sali Berisha presented to the delegation the country's difficult economic situation and the need for rapid international aid.
He stressed that support for democratic reforms and the market economy is a condition for Albania's stability. The delegation expressed interest in developments in the country and its willingness to consider possibilities for future cooperation.
The discussion covered priority sectors of the economy, the need for loans, and technical assistance during the transition period.
At the end of the meeting, the importance of establishing lasting ties with European financial institutions was highlighted.
Expectations of continuity dominate over renewal
The new accountability authority must be based on discipline, determination, and a distancing stance
This piece addresses the need for a responsible administration and for a new political culture under conditions of pluralism. It points out that change is measured not only by names, but by institutional behavior and by the relationship to the law.
True renewal requires responsibility, professionalism, and a clear break from past practices. If expectations of continuity dominate over the spirit of reform, the democratic process risks remaining merely formal.
Transparency, accountability, and a new public ethic are required. Only in this way will citizens gain confidence in the new institutions.
