THE FATE OF THE NATION IN DANGER
CHRONICLE
On 28.01.1991 the Romanians were blocked in their embassy in Tirana because of propaganda from our government, which had instructed the embassies not to open their doors. One Romanian escaped and found refuge in our house, where he stayed for two days. On Thursday, 28 February, he and two others from the Romanian embassy went out to look for his relatives. Today we sent to the embassy and saw a notice saying that a refugee had escaped from the embassy and was being urgently sought. That same day the people of Tirana gathered in front of the embassy, showed solidarity with the Romanians and shouted: freedom-democracy. The Romanian embassy, on orders from above, opened its doors and 37 Albanian citizens went inside. The crowd cheered for them. We set out in the evening at 9 o'clock and came out onto Kavaja Street; there plainclothes policemen stopped us, put us in a police car and escorted us to the Internal Affairs Branch. They told us that they had found our name in a letter left by that refugee. They questioned and threatened us. An officer said that if we were to carry out propaganda against the authorities, they would put us inside. This shows the grave situation and the power's fear of the people. At this time the country is going through decisive days and the fate of the nation is in danger.

CALL
FOR THE ASSEMBLY FOR NATIONAL RECONCILIATION AND UNITY ON 28 NOVEMBER 1991
Convinced that, at this historic moment, great and difficult days are approaching for the Albanian people, and aware that, in the face of these challenges, we Albanians need national reconciliation and unity more than ever, we call on all Albanians, wherever they may be, to set aside feuds, divisions and resentments, and to prepare for a nationwide assembly of reconciliation and unity.
This assembly will be held on 28 November 1991, Flag Day, and its aim will be to strengthen national unity, establish peace among Albanians and open the way to a more worthy future.
We call on intellectuals, the youth, workers, peasants, former persecuted persons, families of the martyrs, clergy and all honest people to support this initiative. Reconciliation is a national necessity.

An Albanian school diploma deserves university
Many citizens have sent letters, complaints and notes about the injustices done to graduating students and young people who finish Albanian schools. They demand that the Albanian school diploma be recognized and that holders be allowed to continue to university like any other diploma.
In many cases, good students, even those with high results, are not allowed to continue their studies only for political reasons or because of their background. This situation is seen as open discrimination against the Albanian school and against the rights of young people.
It is demanded that the educational institutions give explanations and take measures to establish equal rights. Education is a fundamental right and cannot be denied.

LEGAL INTERVIEW FOR WHY IT IS ILLEGAL
Regarding a report broadcast on Macedonian TV, saying that in our country an interview with Mr. Arbën Bala, before foreign journalists, had been banned, we write:
For such a burden of responsibility before public opinion and before our professional conscience, we cannot remain silent. The interview was a normal act of communication with the press and did not violate any legal norm. Its banning shows fear and political insecurity.
The free press and the right to speak are part of democratic civilization. Whoever obstructs them violates not only a legal norm, but also the human right to express oneself.
