PD NATIONAL COUNCIL ACTIVE MEETING
– The PD will propose a legal solution for the poorest –
– There is a risk of armed clashes in the south of the country; let us stop them through dialogue –
– Let us strengthen relations with our sister party, CDU
On Thursday evening, the Presidency of the Democratic Party organized an active meeting with the main leaders of the party’s districts in the premises of the Tirana Executive Committee.
This meeting was attended by members of the PD National Council, several deputies, members of the Central Electoral Commission, leaders of the party apparatus, chairmen of district branches, etc.
The chairman of the PDSH, Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha, after greeting the meeting, gave an overview of the political situation in the country, analyzed the economic situation, and guided the party leaders on how to face the electoral campaign.
He stressed that “the basis of the work of the branches and electoral commissions must be individual work with voters.” Mr. Berisha warned that there is a risk of armed clashes breaking out in the south of the country, since the communist government was creating dangerous situations, such as the disturbances in Saranda and the incident in Kakavijë. “Only through dialogue can such an escalation be avoided,” he emphasized.
He went on to speak about the possibility of an amnesty and the punishment of the crimes of the dictatorship. “All political forces must vote for the resolution condemning the dictatorship,” said the chairman of the PD.
Speaking about the economy, he said that “the lessons of the last months show that privatization is the key to getting out of the crisis.”
In this context, Mr. Berisha said that the next parliament will approve a law compensating former owners and political persecuted people, as well as a package of social laws for the needy strata.
At the end of his speech, the chairman of the PDSH underlined the need to strengthen relations with European sister parties, especially with CDU.

Mr. Alia censors
At a closed-door conference of the Tirana Municipal Council on 27 February, Mr. Ramiz Alia, addressing the participants, said that they are “problematic” because of some of the positions they have taken recently. He said that the city works, as well as the processes of regulation, urbanization, and the removal of supply, PS will carry out without asking about the concerns of the district. He stated that local government would increasingly be under central direction.
According to Mr. Alia, the special electoral and financial activities will be disciplined and controlled by the center. This position runs counter to the promises he himself has made about decentralization.

PD will emerge from the elections on 22 March as the largest party and the winner in Albania. This conviction was expressed at an election meeting in the “Jubileu” stadium by Angjio Pepini, the organizational secretary of the PD branch in Shkodër.
As for the alternative offered by the PD, Mr. Pepini said that “the results of the last two years show that with a PS government we are in a national catastrophe.”
According to Mr. Pepini, “our victory will bring a democratic Albania, where everyone will feel free to play peacefully and with awareness.”
