22 MARCH WILL SEPARATE THE DEMOCRATIC SPRING FROM THE COMMUNIST WINTER

- WHOEVER VOTES FOR THE OPPOSITION, VOTES FOR THE FUTURE. - WHOEVER VOTES FOR THE PS, VOTES FOR THE PAST. - WHOEVER DOES NOT VOTE IS FOR POVERTY, MISERY AND TODAY’S CHAOS.

PS IN THE FINAL STRETCH IN GRAMSH

On Saturday, in the small town of Gramsh, 22 March marked the end of the socialist movement and the socialist era. A small handful of sympathizers of «ZP», Mr. Sali Minxolli and his colleagues, were weary from distributing leaflets and their revolutionary demagoguery, while the boldest were dragging their revolution against the renovated socialists. Why did I leave «Zëri i Popullit»? It may be, for readers, a reason to be interested in knowing the real world and not the upside-down one, thanks to the letter sent to the editorial office of our newspaper by a former journalist of «ZP», who for many years worked in the editorial staff of the party organ publication and had been a spokesman for the Enverist doctrine. PSEUDO-SOCIALIST ABSURDITIES

Let the PS try for another 47 years, «ZP» says fine. In the civilized world there is no socialist party that does not fight Marxism-Leninism and its ideology. Today «ZP» and some supporters of Enverist reform are defending this truth with unmatched zeal. Why are they doing this? Mainly because Marxism-Leninism is, for them, the homeland of the soul. For them, every democracy is socialism only when it comes through the dictatorship of the proletariat. The civilized world has long rejected such an absurdity. «ZP» accuses those who do not obey the fairy tale of socialism of being «servants of imperialism». This means that, according to them, all the democratic countries of Europe are in the service of imperialism. All the socialist parties of these countries are traitors to Marxism-Leninism. Only the minds of people who cannot escape the shell of the old dogma can produce such absurdities. If a socialist party were truly socialist, it would not be hostage to the figure of Enver Hoxha. It would renounce violence as a political method, the spirit of class struggle, and primitive hatred toward the opponent. But these people continue to defend the past, even with a language that has nothing in common with political culture. To speak today of a «victory of socialism» while the country is collapsing, while people are leaving, while shops are empty and the countryside is being destroyed, is either cynicism or blindness. Albania needs democracy, a market economy and the rule of law; not the old recipes that plunged it into poverty. SENDER SHKURTI

Our newspaper’s editor, Çlirim Ciminga, held a conversation with the chairman of the conservative party and member of Parliament, Mr. Xhefri Pati. the interviewer of the piece will remain[?]. of the untouched[?] of the biljini[?]. Will there be major changes, and what political future awaits Albania? Xhefri Pati: In England, we are convinced that the government should be led by a political force that emerges from free elections. Albania needs stability, law and a market economy. I believe that foreign investors will come only when they see that the country has entered a clear democratic course. Question: Do you think this will happen soon? Answer: If the opposition wins and manages to form a credible government, I am convinced that the climate will change. Albania has great potential, but no one invests in a country where insecurity and political conflicts prevail. Question: How do you see future relations with the West? Answer: We will support every effort to bring Albanians closer to Europe. But aid and investment require institutional seriousness, reforms and respect for property. Question: Which political force can guarantee these? Answer: That is a matter for Albanian citizens to decide with their votes. ÇLIRIM CIMINGA

Press conference or a scene at the conference

Opposition journalists deny the right to eat from the «Choir of little rascals». The 5th Congress (continuously) In the end, to return to the cause of this fierce in-family struggle, that is, to the correspondent of the newspaper «Koha jonë», who was said to have graduated from the Faculty of Journalism with high marks, but who did not even know how to write Marx’s name correctly, this whole story of insistence and pressure began to get her into the journalists’ bus at any cost. Later, one of the PS leaders stated that such a thing could not be done, because there were certain criteria. This too was called «discrimination». Thus an absurd quarrel was created, with insults and shouting that had nothing at all to do with a press conference. Instead of political discussion about the program, the elections, the economy and the situation in the country, time was wasted on intrigues, hysteria and fabrications. There were people shouting about the «rights of the press» and, a minute later, trying to silence other journalists. This is how the renovated Enverists understand press freedom. Meanwhile, the conference continued with questions and answers and some routine statements. But what remained in memory were not the leaders’ words, but the grotesque scene in the corridors, where a small crowd tried to impose its own rules with loud voices, pushing, insults and streetwise tones. If this is called «political culture» or «pluralism», then it is clear why the country is in this state. Those who yesterday fed on servility toward totalitarian power are today trying to present themselves as martyrs of democracy. The truth is simpler: journalism is not defended with cries, but with professionalism and respect for others. MINIR BARKA
