THE FATHERLAND CALLS US!
MANIFESTO OF A GROUP OF 182 INTELLECTUALS
Albanians of every political and social conviction!
These days of injustice are among the gravest trials this nation has ever endured.
Today the whole world is watching and following our future with concern. Albania has today become, perhaps without even realizing it, the center of attention of democratic opinion in Europe. Therefore, its future depends to a great extent on the organization of our historical memory, on our national spirit, on our civic and political awareness to say a firm "yes" to democracy.
The great moment has come when each person must choose, and not only with words, arguments, clarity, and composure, whether they will become part of European democratic civilization or of the dead, decayed, and powerless organisms of the system of yesterday.
In these decisive moments, we, the intellectuals of this country, feel the civic and national duty to speak with one voice: Albania must once and for all break with its totalitarian past.
It must take the path of a free, open, pluralist society, where human beings are free in conscience, in speech, in work, and in creation.
Therefore we call on all Albanian citizens, workers, peasants, students, soldiers, intellectuals, women and young people, to unite around the forces of democracy and vote for change.
Do not be deceived by fear, by empty promises, by the outdated propaganda of those who seek to keep alive a system that has failed.
The fatherland calls us to rise to the height of this historic day.
Let us vote for freedom, for Europe, for the future of Albania.

IN RESPONSE TO THE ULTIMATUM OF "ZP"
On 11 March 1992, the newspaper "Zëri i Popullit" published an open letter, "Do not listen to that voice", it is the voice of division", in which, among other things, it says:
"Dear intellectuals", "Tell the real truth to the people aside. Do not lose your head, show yourselves to be measured, you are the leaders of true democracy in Albania. In this difficult moment, more than ever the people need you".
In response to the appeal of the PS organ, we are publishing the following manifesto.
