88 hours of the democratic government

• Nostalgics of communism are trying to manipulate public opinion with inappropriate claims • The PD has not promised a "spoonful and a measure of gold" before either • The Montenegrin government and they were asking me [?] • Father was following us, he eats and will help you — (Continues on page 4) In the first forty-five hours of its work, the democratic Government of Albania was confronted with a series of inherited problems and with attempts to present the difficulties as a consequence of the change of power. President of the Republic Sali Berisha and Prime Minister Aleksandër Meksi reiterated that public opinion should judge the government by its program and its actions, not by the inventions of old propaganda. The Republic of Albania is in a serious economic and financial situation and in these circumstances the new executive is taking its first decisions. In many sectors blockages, shortages, and abuses have been observed. The government has announced that it will act responsibly to stabilize the situation and restore confidence in the institutions. At the same time, the Democratic Party has rejected accusations that it had promised immediate prosperity, stressing that it had never promised a "spoonful and a measure of gold." According to this line, the current difficulties are not a product of the new government, but an inheritance from the former system and from failed administration.
