Despite the socialists for the local elections...

TO WIN 50 PERCENT AND MORE! Even after the results of the local elections of the day before yesterday, which had proceeded at a slow pace, ... PASOK of Greece has reached such conclusions. In some circles there have even been tendencies to exaggerate them. Thus, for example, the first deputy prime minister and secretary-general of PASOK, Akis Tsohatzopulos, declared that although PASOK lost Sunday’s elections, it won 50 percent more! Likewise, Athens, Piraeus and most of the major urban centres, as well as several regional capitals, will have the final battle in the runoff of 29 March. This shows that the Greek people’s support for the socialist movement is still strong. Analysts have described the statement as an attempt to minimize the defeat in a climate where the opposition is gaining ground. For many observers, the first-round result marks a political turning point for the neighboring country and a test for local government. Our correspondents in Athens have reported various figures and comments, but the full text on this page is damaged and not entirely readable.[?]

The Militia of the Council of Ministers

On Saturday afternoon, the standard news bulletin of Albanian Television gave the Albanian public news that would cause concern: a powerful explosion near the building of the Council of Ministers, carried out by unknown perpetrators. It was later learned that the explosion had been carried out with an explosive device and that the material damage was limited. The questions that arise are many. Who organized this act? Why was the government building targeted specifically? Was this explosion meant as a warning, or was it intended to create a climate of political insecurity? At a time when the country is going through a fragile period of transition, any such act takes on multiple meanings. According to official sources, the investigations are continuing and the relevant bodies have been set in motion. Nevertheless, public opinion is waiting for clear answers. No one wants Albania to enter the path of political terror or provocations aimed at destabilizing state life. The explosion near the Council of Ministers is not just a black chronicle. It is an alarm signal for public safety and for state institutions. If organized groups or political interests are behind it, then the danger becomes even more serious. Citizens have the right to demand transparency. The state has a duty to act decisively, but also prudently, without creating panic. If the institutions of order and justice function, the perpetrators will be discovered. Otherwise, such events fuel mistrust and insecurity. At this moment, the strength of the state is measured not by rhetoric, but by its ability to guarantee order and protect the citizen. That is the real challenge of every democratic government.

The shadow of the dictator na[rri][?]s NANO

Nuno with h[?]n of q[?]n with m[?]ny the spectacle of words. But what attracts attention in this article is the attempt to justify an old political spirit. Instead of making an honest analysis of the past, the author chooses to relativize it and present it as a product of circumstances. In this way, the figure of the dictator returns not as an object of moral and historical judgment, but as a shadow that continues to weigh on political mentality. This is not merely a matter of terminology. It is a matter of attitude toward freedom, responsibility and truth. Albanians do not need apologies for the past. They need a clear break from totalitarianism and from all those who seek to present it as order, discipline or stability. Political debate gains nothing from obscuring historical responsibilities. On the contrary, only an open confrontation with dictatorship can free society from its shadow. VASHKIM TRENOVA

The president of the republic, the sultan, April the ambassadors of Bilina at Sali[?]

PETRO DHIMITRI On 22 March this republic got a president. But is he such a sultan? If we thought that the social[?] leader was republican, recent developments show the opposite. Instead of respecting the parliamentary spirit, the presidency is being presented as a personalized centre of decision-making. In political and diplomatic circles there is surprise at the way the powers and symbolism of the post are being articulated. Some ambassadors, according to the article, are seen as part of a new power ceremony, not as representatives of normal state relations. The author uses irony with the figure of the sultan to denounce authoritarian tendencies and the cult of the individual, warning that democracy cannot be built on Eastern forms of command. The printed text in the column is partly indistinct in the image and has been transcribed only in the readable parts.[?]
