Meeting of President Berisha with the President of the Republic of Kosovo Ibrahim Rugova

On 14 July, President Sali Berisha received the representative of the Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova. At this meeting, the President of the Republic of Albania, Sali Berisha, thanked Dr. Rugova for his first visit to Albania after the establishment of the democratic government. Praising highly the resistance and heroism of the people of Kosovo in the face of Serbian violence and terror, President Berisha stressed that democratic Albania and the Albanian government would do everything to defend the Albanian cause of Kosovo on the international stage. President Berisha informed Dr. Rugova about the new developments in Albania, the democratic and economic reforms, as well as the efforts to build the rule of law. The discussion emphasized that the solution to the Kosovo question must be in accordance with the will of its people and with international norms. Dr. Ibrahim Rugova appreciated Albania’s support and expressed his conviction that the Kosovo issue would be resolved by political and peaceful means. Prime Minister Aleksandër Meksi received the Japanese Minister of Trade

(ATSH) In Tirana, Prime Minister Aleksandër Meksi received the Japanese Minister of Trade. The meeting discussed economic cooperation, investments, and Japan’s aid for Albania. The Albanian side stressed the importance of expanding trade relations and attracting foreign capital. For the consolidation of democracy

On the morning of Friday, 26 June, the National Council of the Democratic Party of Albania met at the Palace of Culture. The agenda was presented by the secretary general, Mr. Eduart Selami. After the discussions, the Council approved documents and decisions to strengthen the organization of the party, for reform, and for the deepening of democratic processes. The delegates then discussed the political, economic, and social situation of the country, the role of the former opposition in hindering reforms, and the need to consolidate democratic institutions.
