Military reform - a historical necessity and the imperative of the time

We do not expect the Republic and the Commander-in-Chief to jeopardize our future in the 2011 armament, President Sali... Much discussed as a kind of promising beginning of military reform in completely new political and social conditions, today we are faced with the historical necessity of a thorough reform in the structures, conception and content of our Army. For the first time in our long history as we are moving away from the communist era, the army is being transformed from a political, ideological and class army into a national, depoliticized and professional army. In the spirit of this reform, the life of our society, with freedom, pluralism, the market economy and the rule of law, also requires an army that serves the democratic order, national security and peace. In this sense, reform in the army is not only an institutional need, but also a moral and political obligation to the country. (ATSH)

Defense of respect for human rights - a permanent concern for everyone

- Message from President Sali Berisha sent to the People of Kavaja As an MP: Our Assembly further sharpened its determination to implement the principles and European standards of the democratic and legal state. All the norms of the work of the People's Assembly were inspired by respect for the fundamental rights of man and of minorities. I express my belief that today every Albanian will feel more free to develop his or her abilities, guaranteed by law against any arbitrariness by the organs of state administration or by individuals. In the atmosphere of recent days and in the spirit of the consultations being held with various political forces across the country, the developments in Kosovo are drawing the attention of public opinion nationwide: the escalation of violence, of Serbian police terror against Albanian citizens, who in these days are presenting to the UN Security Council the dramatic situation in Kosovo and are officially demanding recognition of its independence. WHY DID OLT COME OUT BEFORE NUQS IN PARLIAMENT?

Perhaps one day, someone will calmly and patiently list all the actions undertaken by the opposition in the first pluralist parliament and will give a reasoned answer as to why the opposition came out low before the Albanians in this parliament. First of all, the opposition lost through its non-constructive positions, repeated boycotts, lack of alternatives and lack of a spirit of cooperation in the interest of the country. It often used parliament as a tribune of political conflict and not as an institution for solving problems. (E. P.)

Supplies arrived from Greece - they are not in the refrigerator

It may seem paradoxical that the state has secured well-being even for those who are left with very little income, but this is what happens in our reformed army. In the supply unit, over 300 tons of foodstuffs arrived from Greece have been stored, and they are not being distributed at the proper pace because of a lack of refrigerators and transport vehicles. Most of it risks being damaged. (ATSH)
