THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY WORKS TO WITHSTAND THE TEST OF TIME The Democratic Party is on the rise and has the potential to win not only the local elections, but also the upcoming parliamentary elections. These, more or less, were the main views expressed in the discussions and analyses that took place during the meeting of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party, held yesterday at its central headquarters. This meeting discussed the work carried out so far by the deputies and the party structures, its organization and the increase of efficiency in political life. At the center of the discussion was also the need to strengthen relations with the electorate and preserve the party's democratic character. Special attention was paid to the need for greater activation of the grassroots base, for expanding the structures and for increasing responsibility at all levels. It was emphasized that the party must work to withstand the test of time and remain a stable force in Albanian political life.

President BERISHA receives LORD OWEN and SAIRUS VENS The conflicts surrounding the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia and the possibilities for an international conference on Kosovo, human rights and the rights of peoples to self-determination in the territory of the former Yugoslavia, were at the center of the conversation that the President of the Republic, Sali Berisha, held yesterday with the UN and EC special envoy for the former Yugoslavia, Lord Owen, and the former US Secretary of State, Cyrus Vance, at the head of the delegation that is on an official visit to Albania. He stated that an international conference on Kosovo would be an important step toward addressing the Albanian question in the former Yugoslavia in a fair and lasting way. The discussion also covered developments in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the need to stop the bloodshed and establish peace, as well as the role of international organizations in this regard.
