Albania will be a bridge of friendship between Europe and the Islamic world
DECLARES TURKISH PRIME MINISTER TANSU ÇILLER
Albania and Turkey have established very good relations with one another, since the respective governments have adopted a highly modern and democratic political line. The situation in Albania is such that it needs a great deal of help. It will need foreign capital in the future and, perhaps more than any other country, we feel its needs and want to help. Since today is our first meeting with Mr. Meksi's government, we have become acquainted with Albania's problems and needs and have set new goals for an even more fruitful cooperation. Albania will be a bridge of friendship and cooperation between Europe and the Islamic world. Albania is a wonderful country and we value and love it very much. AD
A VIEW OF ALBANIA

Road to Democracy
The Democratic Party led by Mr. Sali Berisha was, of course, dissatisfied with the condition in which Albania had been left. This prompted it to carry out a series of important changes and choices in order to organize the country's government by adapting it to the entire non-Marxist world. It has changed the currency, which is now based on the decimal system. Stock exchanges have been created and a new currency has been put into circulation. These are all concrete arguments proving that Mr. Berisha's government has broken with the Marxist past. Banking facilities have been created and regular payments are being made through sound banks, which help trade. The foundations have been laid for the reconstruction of the state organization, which until now has been entangled in millions of difficulties. What is being done is very important, but I think the main problem of Albania is the lack of people who know how to do the work. The young people have great will and admirable zeal, but they often lack experience. Thus Albania today is like an open construction site. Let us wish the best of success to this construction site. If it is true that it has been written about Albania that the world is obliged to give and not to take, I think it is necessary that this country should as soon as possible be able to give, because in this way it can rise with full dignity. Aid from the West can help Albania greatly, but the main issue is the development of the national dignity of the Albanians. The young Albanians themselves are very lively and intelligent. They have the will to work and are a people who do not fear the difficult road. I think this is the most beautiful thing one can see in this country. I have the impression that it is the only people in the world that does not ask for money, but asks for opportunities to work. That is the most beautiful thing. It is unbelievable how much this people has suffered. Nevertheless, it has preserved a pride and nobility that leave you speechless. We must help Albania, but without killing its pride. That is the first condition for success. Albania needs friends, not tutors.

Legal paralysis and the collapse of exchanges
It is one of the ugly phenomena of our Albanian reality which, unfortunately, continues to be present because of our economic weakness and the lack of a clear legal system. Many jurists and economic specialists have spoken about the problems that have arisen from this phenomenon. Nevertheless, they continue to remain unresolved. ... [?]
