"DID THE RIVER OF SHKODRA TAKE THE VICTIMS OR CAN WE PREVENT IT?"

According to the conversation with officer Zolin Nafiz Bezhani It is written that during yesterday, as reported by the media, the bodies of two young people, dead from thirst and hunger, had been pulled two days earlier from the waters of the Kiri River. One of them had been identified, while investigations continued for the other. According to police officers, who with great difficulty had managed to recover the bodies from the raging waters, it was suspected that the victims might have been from the outskirts of Shkodra. On the other hand, according to local sources, there had been heavy movement of people in the area and suspicions that the incident might have been prevented if intervention had been faster. Under these circumstances, the question is whether the river itself took the victims or whether the absence of preventive measures did. Residents of the area said that the water level had been rising during the evening hours, while the warnings had been unclear and the institutional response delayed. Some of them stated that the banks of the Kiri lack even the most basic warning equipment and that people often move through dangerous areas without any control. From the conversation with officer Zolin Nafiz Bezhani it was learned that control teams had patrolled, but the terrain had been extremely difficult. He said that, despite the interventions, the weather conditions and the lack of lighting made it impossible to locate the two bodies immediately. Investigations are continuing to determine the exact circumstances of the event and the full identity of the victims.[?]
