I HAVE FAITH IN YOUR STRENGTH, IN YOUR SPIRITUAL BREADTH, AND IN YOUR POLITICAL MATURITY
PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC SALI BERISHA ADDRESSING THE CONGRESS OF THE ALBANIAN DEMOCRATIC YOUTH
Dear youth,
Distinguished ladies and gentlemen,
Dear friends,
My presence at the closing session of this Congress, the first and the last in democracy, gives me special pleasure. We are now moving toward our goal of building a free society with a consolidated democracy. On this path, you young people have played and continue to play a decisive role.
In this troubled world, people often lose their bearings, but not you. Your ideals, your energy, and your courage have been a great force in the Albanian democratic movement. Your Congress shows that Albanian youth are an important factor in the political and social life of the country.
Today Albanian society is facing major economic and social difficulties, but we must not lose faith. Democracy is not built in a day; it requires patience, sacrifice, and work. You have shown that you know how to stand up to challenges and keep hope alive.
We trust you, because we see in you the bearers of new values, of free thought, and of civic responsibility. You must be an example of tolerance, political culture, and respect for the law.
Albania needs your strength, your vitality, your European vision. You must contribute in every field: in education, in culture, in the economy, and in the administration of the country. Only then will we lift the country out of backwardness and bring it closer to Europe.
I have faith in your strength, in your spiritual breadth, and in your political maturity. I believe that you will remain committed to the ideals of freedom, democracy, and human dignity.
Thank you!
