Albania strengthens cooperation with NATO
Since the European Community is now seriously considering the admission of Yugoslavia into its structures, Europe is not ruling Albania out of its plans either. Viewing Albania as a factor of peace and stability in the Balkans, the powerful NATO alliance has invited our country to take part in joint military exercises. This was announced yesterday during a press conference in Tirana. It is understood that the Albanian delegation will leave very soon for NATO headquarters. Senior representatives of the Ministry of Defence emphasized that this is an important step for Albania’s integration into Euro-Atlantic structures. They also underlined that cooperation does not run counter to the policy of good-neighbourliness and aims solely at increasing security in the region.
