- says Prime Minister Aleksandër Meksi. Tirana, 4 January — (ATSH) — Prime Minister Aleksandër Meksi said today that “the deepening of administrative reform is one of the government’s priority tasks.” The prime minister made this statement at the first meeting he held this year with ministers and deputy heads of central institutions. According to Meksi, the government’s main tasks for 1993 are improving public order, establishing normality in work, and further improving the central and local administration. Speaking about administrative reform, he stressed that “it will proceed in parallel with the decentralization of power from the center to the base.” Speaking about the government’s work in the first months of last year, Prime Minister Meksi said that the ministries had been engaged within the institutional framework of the transition, recognizing this issue as one of the main tasks. The prime minister noted that reforms in the agriculture and trade sectors brought the first positive results, but stressed that difficulties remain numerous. The meeting also emphasized the need for greater discipline in the state administration and for increased efficiency in the use of resources.
