SOCIALISTS’ RESPONSE TO THE "GENOCIDE AGAINST INTELLECTUALS"

I have no reason to defend anyone, even if that person is a close member of my family. But since my brother is also being accused, as a deputy from the Kukës district, I cannot remain silent. He has not been, and is not, involved in any affair that would tarnish his name. This campaign against intellectuals is being used for political purposes and to create a false impression before public opinion. If there are individuals who have abused their duties, let them answer individually and not have an entire social group condemned. The Socialist Party is trying to present this debate as a division between intellectuals and the new democratic power, while the people are waiting for concrete solutions to the economy, public order, and the future. Intellectuals cannot be used as a political shield. No democrat is against them. On the contrary, the country needs them more than ever. I believe that Albanian society must break away from the logic of slander and labeling. This helps neither democracy nor justice. Whoever has proof should present it; whoever does not should not throw mud. Only in this way can we build a normal political and civic climate.

DISGRACED SPARTAK BRAHO DISGRACES THE PS

Through an open letter, the Democratic Party has responded to Spartak Braho’s statements, describing them as an attempt to strike the opposition with false accusations. The letter states that Braho, as a former official of the previous system, has neither the moral authority nor the political credibility to speak in the name of democracy. According to it, his statements aim to distort the truth and divert attention from the country’s real problems.
