Do not hinder our democracy
-The economy does not flourish in a day or in a year-
-Democratic intellectuals have confidence in the Meksi Government and will support it-
Even if the course of the democratic process in Albania has faced difficulties caused by subjective factors or by factors beyond our control, we are convinced that democracy is not a short-term alternative, but our only path.
That was the essence of a statement by a group of democratic intellectuals, made public yesterday. According to it, economic reforms do not bear fruit overnight and for that reason state institutions and the government that emerged from the free vote must be supported.
The statement stresses that the government of Aleksandër Meksi must be helped in its efforts to stabilize the economy and establish the rule of law. The authors of the statement call on public opinion not to fall prey to political speculation and campaigns aimed at destabilization.
The text also says that Albanian democracy is still young and needs understanding, patience, and civic participation.
The democratic intellectuals express their determination to support democratic transformations and the market economy, opposing nostalgia for the old system.
They appeal to citizens to keep their trust in institutions and in Albania’s European future.

"THE PD HAS THE POWER AND INTENDS TO KEEP IT THROUGH DEMOCRACY"
-The Deputy Chairman of the PD, Mr. Ali Spahia, spoke about the problems of local government of the parliamentary political forces with the president
-
Yesterday at noon, in a constitutional session room of the presidium of the People’s Assembly, 24 political entities signed the joint declaration of the centre-right coalition, among which the Democratic Party stands out.
Particular attention was drawn to the speech of the Deputy Chairman of the PD, Dr. Ali Spahia, who assessed that many efforts have been made to force pluralism into a rigid mold. Overall, he referred to the current political situation in Albania.
All government officials and every political force have the right to participate in the conduct of public affairs when they have received this mandate through the vote. President Berisha has made it clear that today’s power came through the free vote and it will change only through the vote.
But he stressed that the PD does not consider its mandate endless. The transition from the current majority to a new majority must take place through constitutional means. That would be the fairest and most democratic path for Albania’s future.
He called on political forces to abandon the old rhetoric of conflict and to assume concrete responsibilities for normal political coexistence.
In closing his speech, Dr. Spahia underlined that democracy is not built with violence, but with mutual respect, institutions, and law.
The Adriatic Association "KOSOVA" supports Mr. Meksi’s government
-The chairman and the secretary general for resignation, work on the scheme-
STATEMENT
The Adriatic Association "Kosova" considers Mr. Meksi’s statement on housing 500 refugees from Kosovo unacceptable. This statement was made at a time when Albania is facing economic and social difficulties, but it should not be misinterpreted as a lack of will to help our Kosovar brothers.
We consider it the duty of the Albanian state and of every social organization to show solidarity with the people of Kosovo, while respecting the country’s real capacities.
Our association expresses its support for Mr. Meksi’s government and calls for sensitive national issues to be handled responsibly and without demagoguery.
As for the statements made by some members of the presidency, they do not represent the unanimous position of the association.
The chairman and the secretary general tender their moral resignation for the mishandling of information and for the damage caused in public opinion.
For the Presidency
