PS RE-PRESENTED ITS PLATFORM
On the eve of the campaign, this time with only «91 degrees of credibility», it came out with its own version of the joint elections of 6 July.
Regarding the work of the KPD, the secretary for public relations, Ferdinand Xhaferri, said that PSD’s failure and its declaration in favor of a left-wing coalition with PSD disqualified PSD from influencing the talks with PPD because of the loss of socialist voters.
From the PSD delegation’s side, their decision for a coalition with PKD was explained as the result of a compromise to preserve the party’s profile. PPD had set this condition, arguing that the center-left coalition would not give either side a clear majority.
It was further said that the PSD and PPD summit had failed at the level of declarations, that PSD had not been ready to accept the conditions demanded by its partners, and that the partners had returned to the earlier alternative.
PPD representatives stated that PSD’s new orientation cannot be regarded as a development that gives stability to the left and that it carries political consequences.
Meanwhile, in political circles there is still discussion about new electoral formulas and about how the parties will position themselves in the coming process.
Under these circumstances, PS re-presented its platform and called for it to be regarded as the only alternative for coordinating the opposition forces.
According to its officials, this platform aims to preserve the balance among the parties and avoid distortions in representation.

No. 747
Tirana, 4.8.1993
THE PRIME MINISTER
A. MERXHANI[?]
The decision is based on the need to recognize the suffering of the category of former convicts and political persecuted people, as well as to define the rights arising from this status.
The draft law provides for criteria, benefits and procedures for recognition of the status, as well as different forms of moral and material rehabilitation.
The relevant associations have welcomed this initiative, considering it an important step toward restoring dignity that had been absent for decades.
