Tirana, - The spokesperson for the Minister of Defense reports that on 6 August, at 11:30, in the area of the Black Ravine border post in the Tropojë district, near pyramid C-7, at a spot approximately 60 meters inside our state border, Serbian military forces fired their weapons in the direction of the Albanian border guards and the residents of this village. As a result, soldier Ali Qerasheu was hit in the chest and taken to Tirana hospital; his condition is life-threatening. Villager Dervish Ferizaj was also hit. Also on 6 August, at 15:30, in the same area, 100–150 meters inside our state border, Serbian military forces fired at the Albanian border patrol and seriously wounded a soldier. It is unprecedented in the annals of European diplomacy for an opposition political force, in pursuit of its ambitions for power, to openly express itself in opposition to national policy. If we were speaking of the era of dictatorship, everything could be justified by the catch-all term “dictatorship”; but given the age of modern civilization, there is no doubt that the subtext is clear. National treason is being deliberately submitted to! After E. Hoxha, another offspring of the dictatorship put his name to an anti-national declaration: Fatos Nano. His declaration, signed in Greece, is nothing less than public national treason. The distinguished intellectual and diplomat Faik Konica wrote: — “Beware, Albanians, of the so-called Albanians.” And indeed! Nexhmije Hoxha’s former scientific associate, F. Nano; Namik Dokle, who spoke Serbian; and Gramoz Ruçi, accused of the genocide of 2 April, find common ground to stab Kosovo and Çamëria in the back. Victims of extreme ambitions for power, they still sign the most shameful declaration of the PS and, at the same time, of a European opposition. In exchange for a few gifts, a few colorful portraits of the multicolored Nano, trips, a few cocktails and visas, a few cars and some caresses in the cesspool of political shame, Fatos Nano, at his insistence, encourages his counterpart Papandreu to sign the third national betrayal. After 1944–45 and Hoxha’s policy of “the self,” Nano sets the third example of abandoning the national ideal. It is no wonder that the sole leader, member and supporter of PUK, Idajet Beqiri, instead of opposing his colleague Nano’s anti-national declaration, defends it, even calling it a beacon of nationalism! It is no wonder that Nano’s declaration was accepted only by his fanatical friends of Enverism and the discredited former officials of the dictatorial leadership! It is no wonder that before this declaration the PS called for new parliamentary elections and, after this declaration failed in its first version, called through illegal means and methods for the overthrow of democratic power! It is no wonder that the great parliamentary leader of the PS falls silent when the hour of the Constitution approaches, which Nano himself had been the first to violate. It is no wonder that the PS and its leaders have called against the American embassy in Tirana and the representatives of the IMF and EC. Nor is it surprising that they have created as ugly an image of Albania as possible in the world and, following the failure of all their anti-national efforts, have entered the political game with their last chance for survival: provoking civil war. The PS seeks salvation through resistance by means of a counterattack and by heightening the political and social tension. The declaration with PASOK was no coincidence. It was the consequence of the anti-national positions of Nano and company. It was the consequence of the gratitude of the PS leader toward their former leader E. Mr. Kastriot Islami and his company, as they have done throughout the country, turned to Mallakastër hoping and intending to organize Enverist rallies. But the Democratic people of Mallakastër and honest Socialists left Mr. Islami dumbfounded on Sunday. The rag “Zëri i Popullit” did not write about Mallakastër. Mr. Islami’s rally in defense of Fatos failed completely, but it also showed Mr. Islami that Mallakastër does not support thieves. Mallakastër has more worthy democratic supporters, whose development he can see for himself. Who were those shouting for Fatos? The people of Mallakastër know the Enver lickspittles who today are trying to defend the thief Nano. Sunday showed that Mallakastër does not support communism and socialism. Mallakastër will no longer support dwarfs like Islami either, who during election campaigns has shown through his degrading words his true face and that of those who follow him. Despite the announcements and measures taken, 130 people gathered at the rally, including those on the platform. The rally lasted no more than 15 minutes because Mr. Islami did not like the «enthusiasm». From the moment the PD was born as a progressive force, the vanguard of the new, it encountered a chorus of obscurantists, a barricade they had erected with the aim of obstructing the mission history had assigned it. The most determined, the most unyielding, the most combative—he who was accustomed to saying that 1+1 equals three simply because the PD said it equals 2—was Gramoz Ruçi. In his war against the PD, Ruçi comes across as pathological, jealous, and egotistical. He and the PD stand opposite one another as antipodes. Ruçi is a representative of the old caste of conservatism, while the PD presents itself as a missionary of the new. But can Ruçi tolerate the new? Gratitude to those who gave him his posts makes him loyal to the “ideals” they serve him. In any case, one thing is certain. Ruçi will continue to be just as aggressive toward the PD as he has been. And whenever this draws my attention, the explanation is simple: morality cannot coexist with political and ideological immorality without clashing with it. History and its balance have borne witness to Ruçi’s immorality and his “accu—” [text ends]. Poor Ruçi, who will knock and have to face it...

There in that crowd I also spotted some employees of state offices, who still vegetate in the offices of the Democratic Government and in comfortable state jobs, leaving the persecuted and true democrats unemployed and homeless on the streets. According to you, «ZP» scribblers, is this rabble and this battalion of Enverists the people of Tirana?! Look, you are badly mistaken! Be careful when you mention those people! They have shown you time and again «how much they love you». Do not sully their name with your pen and your black flattery! Do not force them to finally show you your place, as you deserve, because that will be your terrible end. The failed communist «march» in Tirana must nevertheless be a definitive lesson. It should show that communism has not been uprooted from Albania at all. It is there, present, seeking to gain ground amid the difficulties of the moment. The communist «march» in Tirana shows that the Enverists have become aggressive; they are baring their teeth and calling for «cracking skulls and dragging people away». The «march» teaches that the authors of these threats must, without fail, be brought to justice. They must face the consequences that are due to them, before it is too late. The communist «march» in Tirana should spur us to carry administrative reform through to the end, to purge the state apparatus completely of communist remnants. We must be convinced that their presence in our offices brings nothing but harm. And finally, that «march» should convince everyone, once and for all, that we must replace our tolerance up to now—abused and wholly unjustifiable—with the merciless and unequivocal enforcement of the law, both against those who produced and zealously carried out genocide against an entire people and against those who are inciting bloodshed today, because they are one and the same. Every Albanian or other RTSH viewer who watched the PS meeting in the city of Peshkopi in support of Nano saw clearly those 50–70 pensioners, secretaries of basic organizations, who looked even fewer in an empty stadium. The problem was that the next day «ZP» wrote in large letters: «The socialist avalanche has begun to move». «Thousands» of residents of Peshkopi supported the thief Nano». Is there any greater manipulation of the facts than this, not to mention the other rallies around the districts, where the same method and the same shamelessness were used to report the socialist corruption rallies? To cover up this gross blunder, the «ZP» editorial office published a note yesterday which, in a wholly banal manner and with no logical connection whatsoever, tries to conceal the communist ignorance of the person responsible for reporting reality by citing its circulation figures. Regarding the circulation «ZP» might have, we would like to add that, having all the capital of the PP at its disposal, it has been able to distribute the newspaper for quite some time—and for free—since «ZP» has long been published as a communist tract and Enverist pensioners have begun slipping it under people’s doors, despite the fact that nobody believes its lies anymore. We would also like to remind you that you have built up mountains of stock in «ZP»’s warehouses. Judging by its falsifications, inaccuracies, blackening of reality, and manipulation of facts, I can confidently say that «ZP» has long been branded the champion of the communist press. «ZP» ridiculously emphasizes that I supposedly have more readers not only than «RD» but also than RTSH, which has 7 million viewers in the Balkans. «ZP»’s hostility toward RTSH stems from this: Albanian TV, as a modern medium, can deliver the news to its viewers together with images, and has thus brought «ZP»’s 60,000 blatant lies into the light. Now, whom should we believe: RTSH or the 50-year-old lies of «ZP»?

Yesterday the trial concluded in which Genc Ruli appeared as the plaintiff and Panajot Zoto as the defendant. He was represented by lawyer Dashamir Kora.
