-From the activity of the Democratic Party- Two days ago, on 2 May 1993, parliament in Tirana was unblocked. After 4 hours of debate and exchanges on the Draft Association of Albania with Europe, the session of the People's Assembly changed atmosphere and politically moved into debate and political accusations. All this came about because of articles published in the newspaper “Koha Jonë” and especially the one by the representative of PBD “Ethnic Albania”, Mr. Sejmeni. On Thursday, during the visit of Italian President Oskar Luigi Scalfaro to Tirana, PS chairman Mr. Fatos Nano organized a lunch for foreign journalists. Without the presence of Albanian journalists and far removed from the official standards of the activity, Mr. Nano stated that the government is corrupt and that PPSH (read PS) even pays the journalist of “Koha Jonë”, who was present at the lunch. This presentation by Mr. Nano through “Koha Jonë” and especially the suspicions and accusations of corruption with specific names of officials in the government caused such a shock in political opinion that it became the subject of discussion in parliament. Instead of an analytical and political discussion of the situation and of the advantages that the signing of the Association Agreement with Europe represents for Albania, parliament began to debate mainly about concealing corruption. In parliament spoke the minister who has long been rumored to have entered government through corrupt favors from the former communist president Ramiz Alia. The minister spoke even though he is in government thanks to the obligation imposed by the PS chairman Meksi, who has suffered political internment and came from Europe by cart, and who was presented in the newspaper as a manipulator of the “Albanian question”. Let the man who came to the high office of minister as Mr. Ramiz Alia's envoy to carry out the adaptation of the socialist line of government speak about corruption. Let the man who yesterday was with them against pluralism speak about corruption. Let the one who, with populism and rotten balancing, presents daily movements with an anti-democratic and anti-government spirit speak about corruption. A minister who, through the infrastructure sector and foreign relations, is incriminating government officials with corrupt tenders, speak about corruption?! No one has money enough not to deserve verification and punishment, but formalizing things that do not exist as corruption, in order to create the idea of horror that has supposedly seized the government in the name of socialist tradition, is a dirty political act. Either parliament and government are in opposition, or those who are feeding the corruption mill. The PD deputies who analyzed this problem in the FNN activity and the Tirana activity presented it with great passion and correctness in their discussions. Either tell us by specific names who has stolen, who has taken money and privileges, or shut your mouth and stop the filthy labels. Those who presented the situation in government as a tension-building scenario with destabilizing aims did not do democracy any service. The act presented from the parliamentary rostrum as a “demasking” of the government was nothing other than a way to cast a political noose, which they let go when they need to and pull when it suits them. Instead of helping the process of Albania's integration into Europe, the opposition chooses to poison the political climate with slander and insinuations. This is the old and well-known tactic of the communists.

The President expressed to her the respect of all Albanians and of the government for her sacred mission. “On behalf of the Albanian nation, we thank you for everything you have done for people in need, for the sick and for orphans,” said the President. As was said earlier, more or less in the newspaper “Koha Jonë” and in Mr. Sejmeni's statements, such corruption cases as land grants, illegal registration of property in the Mortgage Office, tender affairs, cars and land bought thanks to favors in customs, etc. were denounced. This general presentation, without specific names, as it appeared in the newspaper and in parliament, could not only shed light on the matter, but also gave opponents ammunition to call it a political campaign. If these cases exist, then they must be pursued by law-enforcement bodies, not consumed in vague accusations. In September, in the customs company, 47 employees were dismissed for corruption. In the ministry, bank accounts belonging to officials have been discovered. But the public still demands evidence and concrete punishments. After the elections of 22 March, the new government and institutions have promised transparency, yet the fight against corruption cannot remain at the level of declarations. After dividing Albania into several regions and villages and presenting the upcoming elections as a national absurdity and a land issue, the opposition does not stop inventing dangers that threaten the country. It tries to create the impression that the government is supposedly leading things toward division and that Albanians have no other path than to follow its instructions. In reality, this is a continuation of the old logic of the PPSH, which treats the people as a crowd and the world as property to be commanded. Against this backdrop, socialist propaganda continues to produce confusion and cover up its own failures. When a political force finds no real support in society, it tries to replace it with noise, labels and victimhood. Citizens want facts, responsibility and work, not word games. Il testo afferma che a Scutari vi sono scene drammatiche, minatori del carbone, bambini con sacchetti e pane per le loro famiglie, insegnanti non pagati e pensionati in attesa. In questo contesto la propaganda socialista continua a produrre confusione e a coprire i propri fallimenti. I cittadini vogliono fatti, responsabilità e lavoro, non giochi di parole.
