ALBANIA, UNLIKE THE OTHER COUNTRIES OF EASTERN EUROPE, HAS GREAT POLITICAL STABILITY

At a press conference yesterday at Hotel Dajti, the chairman of the Albanian Christian Democratic Party, Mr. Nard Ndoka, announced his party's participation in the Congress of the European Confederation of Christian Democratic People's Parties, which is currently being held in Zurich. He stated that the Albanian Christian Democratic Party would become a full member of this conference. Mr. Ndoka stressed that in many conferences and publications in the current political forum, a great deal of information is also being provided that is being used in an attempt to distort, on purpose, the image of the President of Kosovo. However, he emphasized that Kosovo is at the center of his party's activity, since it is the poorest country economically and the one with the biggest problems of the day. He called on the Albanian Parliament to urgently draft the legal framework for the sale and lease of land. According to Mr. Ndoka, this would offer great opportunities for the development of the countryside and the economy.

THE CHAIRMAN OF THE PD PARLIAMENTARY GROUP, ASI SPAHIA, MEETS WITH KING BAUDOUIN OF BELGIUM

An expression of support for serious Albanian causes and for Albanians so that all Albanians declare that it is certain.[?] At the invitation of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation based in Brussels, the parliamentarian of the Albanian Democratic Party, Mr. Asi Spahia, chairman of the PD Parliamentary Group and Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Defense in the People's Assembly, took part in a meeting of representatives of Christian Democratic and conservative parties from Europe on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the creation of the European People's Party. Asi Spahia held meetings with figures from Belgian foreign policy and from other European countries. In a special meeting with the King of Belgium, Mr. Spahia presented the concerns of the Albanians of Kosovo and of other Albanian ethnic territories in the former Yugoslavia. King Baudouin expressed his interest in the problems of the Albanians and assured Mr. Spahia that he would exert his influence to raise awareness among the powerful institutions and organizations of our continent regarding the Albanian issue. Mr. Spahia also had a warm conversation with the President of the Belgian Senate, Frank Swaelen. In this meeting, Mr. Spahia stressed that Albania, unlike the other countries of Eastern Europe, has great political stability and is moving forward on the path of reforms. He pointed out the need to privatize land and housing as soon as possible and then the other sectors of the economy. Ari Spahia praised Belgium's assistance to Albania and expressed to the president of the Belgian Senate the desire of the Albanian state to establish diplomatic relations with Belgium as soon as possible. Mr. Spahia also had meetings with senior officials of the European People's Party organization. The discussion with them focused on the problems of Albania and of Albanians in the ethnic territories in the former Yugoslavia. ATSH

THE TRUTH ABOUT THE KUÇOVA MEETING

-Fatos Nano, provocateur- It was neither the Socialist Party nor Fatos Nano who initiated the Kuçova meeting. Why did this meeting come out only yesterday? Why not several months earlier, when much more serious things were happening in Albania? It was not even the government that asked for this meeting. So why did it emerge? To provide the backdrop for pressure against the government of the Democratic Party. To create noise in public opinion and present, before foreign opinion, a situation of instability in Albania. This noise suits Fatos Nano, who can present himself as a leading figure of the Albanian left before the Socialist International Congress to be held in Stockholm. But does Mr. Nano need these efforts? To destroy himself. If the majority of Albanians have already made the break from Enver Hoxha, Mr. Nano himself did the opposite with the initiative to organize the Kuçova meeting and with the content of his declaration. In his statement, Mr. Nano declared that his aim was to avoid bloodshed in Albania. That is completely unnecessary, since Albanians have long understood that he has lost any moral and political right to play the role of savior. Avoiding bloodshed in Albania cannot come from declaring the government anti-popular, inciting hatred, and starting destabilizing protests. This meeting included representatives of several left-wing parties, but curiously not the Social Democratic Party, a party that apparently understood Mr. Nano's game and refused to become part of it. The other left-wing parties, with one exception, were not represented by their chairmen but by lower-ranking figures, thereby failing to give this meeting the appropriate weight. Why is it harmful for Albania? The declaration of the Kuçova meeting gives a dark picture of the situation in Albania. This declaration says that Albania is heading toward economic catastrophe, that the country is on the brink of civil war, that there is a danger of human enslavement, that the government is authoritarian. With this declaration, Mr. Nano seeks to present himself before the Socialist International Congress as the leader of the Albanian opposition who is trying to unite the Albanian left. He needs a political success in international left-wing forums because he knows that in Albania he is a failure. Is this meeting harmful to the left opposition? Yes, because it seriously damages the left-wing parties that became part of a completely personal initiative by Fatos Nano. It is clear that Mr. Nano wanted to use this meeting to strengthen his own personal position. He has learned nothing from losing the elections. Instead of building a serious opposition, he tries to survive by staging political scenes with bombastic statements. ATSH

The nine circles of hell of ENVER HOXHA

Eastern Europe has never won sympathy forever. No ideology has ever found it to its liking. This has been the case since the beginnings of scientific socialism. These markers [?] of the past and some thoughts cast toward the future seem still to belong to the peoples of this region. In the light of the immoral schemes of Stalinist dictatorship, in most cases life was turned into a long hell. Like every dogma, it dealt with the nerve of learning, with conviction, with the human being. Physically, people were not free. Their daily inner life was occupied by fear and silence. Collective punishment, class warfare, internments and prisons became ordinary tools of rule. In Albania, this model took even more savage forms. Under the name of revolution and socialism, the country was isolated and the citizen was stripped of every right. Only the dictator's name was repeated like an absolute formula. Chronicle of Hell

WHY SHOULDN'T THE COMPANY “NANOCLEV.CO.” RELEASE THE EMERGENCY MEDICATIONS?[?]

At 8 in the morning on the 15th of this month, several people appeared at the polyclinic pharmacy asking for saline solution, iodine, cotton wool, alcohol, etc. The pharmacy director, Mr. Anastas Pilo, told them that these items were missing from the pharmacy and that supplies were awaited. The shortage was officially reported to the management of the pharmaceutical enterprise and to the ministry. The private company “Nanoclev.co.”, which had taken responsibility for imported medicine supplies, reacted to this shortage. Citizens complained that emergency medicines were not being distributed on time and that such shortages created difficulties for patients in serious condition. If there are medicines in the warehouses, why are they not being released for emergencies? That is the question doctors and pharmacists are asking. The lack of transparency and the delays in distribution are having a negative impact on healthcare services. Shëndetësie
