“historical” VISIT OF CHAIRMAN NANO TO PËRSHKOPI

“historical” VISIT OF CHAIRMAN NANO TO PËSHKOPI -Nano, Ruçi and Hufjone for the destabilization of Albania - PS continues to defend Nano by carrying out illegal actions. -The citizens of Dibra have their homes violated as communist traffickers are brought in under the door. Today, on 23 May 1993, the chairman of the PS, comrade Fatos Nano, is coming on a visit to the district of Dibra in order to continue his destabilizing anti-citizen campaign aimed at overthrowing the democratic government led by Dr. Sali Berisha and cutting Albania off from the path of democracy and establishing a communist dictatorship. This man has come to further fan the flames of hatred among the people of Dibra, to incite an artificial revolt of the peasants of Dibra against their legal and democratic authority, and to sabotage the government’s efforts to revive the economy and energize life in this district. Today, on 23 May 1993, the chairman of the PS, comrade Fatos Nano, is coming to Dibra and the city of Peshkopia to continue his provocations against legal authority and to incite the people of Dibra into social conflict and civil war. The real purpose of this visit is to frighten the people of Peshkopia with the return of the communists to power and with the old slogans of the class struggle, in order to rule once again through terror and dictatorship. In this case he is seeking to exploit the difficult economic situation, the discontent and the many problems created by the old socialist policy itself. Today, on 23 May 1993, at 11:00 in the morning, in the square in front of the “Nazmi Rushiti” school in the city of Peshkopia, before hundreds and thousands of citizens of Dibra, a political rally will be held with slogans and insults against the government of democratic reform and in favor of the old Socialist Party. Also taking part in this rally will be comrade Zhulali[?], who together with Fatos Nano, Gramoz Ruçi and perhaps others will speak before the crowd to spread the poison of hatred and poison the minds of poor and unemployed people. For this purpose, all district and local leaders have been ordered to send people, by bus, private vehicles, and whatever means they can, to Peshkopia in order to increase the size of the crowd and create the impression of massive popular support. In particular, former communists, former party secretaries, former cooperative chairmen, former enterprise managers, former security officers, and every kind of compromised element of the old regime have been ordered to be mobilized to bring people and to carry out propaganda against the democratic authorities. All the old structures of the dictatorship in Dibra are on the move and being activated. Citizens’ homes are being checked one by one. Every door is being knocked on and attendance at Fatos Nano’s rally is being demanded through threats and pressure. People are being sent to villages and neighborhoods to register those who will take part and those who will not. People are being told that anyone who does not go to the rally will be left without work, without assistance, without bread, without rights. These are the old communist methods that are being revived. The accusations made against the law-enforcement forces and the democratic government are slander, deception and provocations. The aim is only to create chaos, incite conflict and damage Albania’s image. Fatos Nano and his comrades want to present themselves to international opinion as victims, while in reality they are working against the constitutional order and against civil peace. We were deeply sorry that Fatos Nano came to Dibra at a time when people need calm, work and hope. Instead of offering help, he comes to poison hearts and divide the people. We do not need hatred and conflict, but stability, development and democracy. (Continues on page 2)
