RATOS NANO WAS LEAVING MALIQ WITH HIS TAIL BETWEEN HIS LEGS - Adventures of Nano's clique in Maliq - Social love in the Hoxha family Fros Nano stretched out like a balloon and, as much as she has suffered her husband’s brain, she has also stuck out her muzzle shouting and, with difficulty, has set herself against the women of Maliq, with words rougher than those of a rabid witch. Her provocation is the highest level of slander, deception and the destruction of Albanian figures in this election campaign. The PD has learned that Frosina the bride is a twin sister of Mrs. Nexhmije, and therefore must be tolerated for her foolishness. The adventure of the young candidate of the “social clique” in Maliq did not end without leaving a bitter impression on the campaign leaders in this town. The imported cliques from Tirana thought they would have a thorn-free field in Maliq, but it seems the people of Maliq are not so naive as to swallow such rusty spoons. At the first dinner after their arrival in Maliq, the propaganda center of the red party was filled with confectionery and red bottles. “Mrs.” Nano, accompanied by a band of rascals and painted women, tried to organize a “social” evening, but it turned into a commonplace provincial farce. The women of Maliq, unlike what the organizers thought, did not cling to her like the imported crowd of applauders. At the meeting the next day, while Fatos Nano tried to deliver his usual speech with big words about democracy, freedom and bread, the hall grew cold as soon as they remembered yesterday’s adventures and the long history of the bloc members with the people. The people of Maliq have not forgotten what the former regime did and have no intention of forgiving its heirs just because they are now wearing Western ties. Their visit ended without pomp. The cars left at speed and behind them remained only the empty noise of used-up promises. In Maliq they did not get the welcome they expected. They left, as the people say, with their tail between their legs.

PRESIDENT BERISHA MEETS LORD OWEN AND MR. TORVALD STOLTENBERG On Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at the Palace of Congresses, President Sali Berisha held a meeting with Lord Owen and Mr. Torvald Stoltenberg. The conversation took place in a warm and highly constructive atmosphere. The meeting addressed the main problems of the region, political developments and the concerns related to the peaceful resolution of the crisis in the former Yugoslavia. President Berisha emphasized Albania’s consistent position in support of peace, peoples’ rights and respect for international standards. He underlined the need to put an end to the crimes and ethnic cleansing being carried out in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the need for greater involvement of the international community. Lord Owen and Mr. Stoltenberg presented their assessments of the situation and the possibilities for mediation. The parties exchanged views on possible ways toward a political solution to the conflict and on the role Albania can play in the further stabilization of the region.

! At another electoral meeting organized in Maliq by figures from the left, it was seen once again that the old spirit of privilege has not died out. Relatives and supporters of the Hoxha family tried to present themselves as people close to the people’s troubles, but their words and behavior betrayed them. Once accustomed to tribunes, privileges and orders, today they try to appear as the voice of the unprotected. But ordinary citizens no longer believe this charade. Their past is still fresh in the memory of Albanians. Maliq is not ground for propaganda experiments. Those who once kept silent about injustices cannot now sell themselves as defenders of democracy and of the needy.

Bilalapo Sofia! Comrade! there is a possibility of coming to you on an election visit, but the people in the areas we are going to visit are irritated. Do your best to calm the situation. We also need some strong boys for security. This campaign is becoming more and more difficult and every public appearance is causing us trouble. Our comrades at the base are reporting that people react harshly to empty promises. There is considerable dissatisfaction with the economic situation and with our political past. Be careful with the wording and with the organization of the meetings. If possible, send also propaganda material and some reinforcement from the center.
