PD DENOUNCES THE ANTI-NATIONAL STANCE OF THE SOCIALIST PARTY
After several meetings with the circles of Lopozos and Hashik Arodin[?], the PD and the group of initiators of the organization "United Albania" asked them to cut it in half, adio, to hold a mass meeting with residents and citizens in the Albanian circles
. The meeting was to begin at 18:00 on 19 June.
The stance of the press and the FYROM government toward the Albanians of Macedonia is extremely harsh. The spokesman of the Presidium[?] of the Parliament of Macedonia, Mihailovski, insists on and strongly recommends taking measures against the organizers of the referendum, while the morning newspaper "Nova Makedonija" writes with indignation that a group of citizens of Albanian origin in Macedonia will, in parallel with the parliament of the Republic of Macedonia, create an illegal Albanian national assembly. This move is prompting strong reactions from the entire Albanian political class. Regarding these developments, the chairman of the PD parliamentary group had contact with the chairman of the Socialist Party and agreed that the two parliamentary groups would meet at 9 a.m. on 20 June. The request regarding the stance that should be taken on this issue was that the conference of party leaders should also meet, but this request was not accepted. On the part of the chairman of the Socialist Party, it was stated that they had been aware of this referendum of the Albanians of Macedonia through some emissaries who had been there. The PDSH believes that the stance of the Socialist Party is completely absurd and anti-national; after this statement, once again the chairman of the PD parliamentary group requested a joint meeting of the heads of the political parties, but this was again not accepted by the chairman of the Socialist Party parliamentary group. Yesterday the PD gathered its parliamentary group and decided: 1. To issue, in the name of its parliamentary group, a declaration on the stance of the PD concerning the referendums[?] of the Albanians of Macedonia. 2. To send its delegates to Peshkopi, Strugë and Dibër and invite as many residents and citizens as possible to the meeting on the eve of the referendum. 3. To send a vehicle with aid and, if necessary, to donate blood as well. 4. To declare, in the name of the parliamentary group, that the action of the chairman of the Socialist Party shows ties with anti-Albanian Macedonian circles. 5. On the other hand, representatives of the organization "United Albania" declared that due to the aggravated situation in Kosovo they had temporarily suspended the planned manifestation for 21 June and that they were preparing a larger rally in support of the right of the Albanians of Macedonia to self-determination.
