“ZP” in yesterday’s issue published an article entitled “ZP” at the head of the right-wing election campaign; [?...]. Without dwelling on saying that we are [?...], we try to define the essence. “ZP”, by its main role, that of transmitter of democratic and civic opinion, has been involved and will continue to be involved in informing voters and the broader public about the program, the candidates and developments of the political forces. This cannot be called either a one-sided campaign or propaganda, but a normal duty of the pluralist press. However, as far as free voting and the democratic process are concerned, it is precisely the propaganda bluffs of the far left that seek to create fog and confusion. Since the voter today has the possibility to compare, judge and decide for themselves, any manipulation runs counter to the new political reality. [Article continues on page 6]

FROM THE DISCUSSION OF THE NEW ARMY LAW AND THE NEW RANKS LAW, SINCE 1990 OFFICERS HAVE ONLY HAD 230 OFFICERS DEMOTED As far as the law on ranks and the organization of the army are concerned, it is natural that the debate should focus on establishing hierarchy, discipline and professional criteria. These are essential elements for the normal functioning of a modern army. President Berisha, who is in Durrës on the occasion of the opening of the concert season of the symphony orchestra, had a meeting yesterday with representatives of the North Atlantic Assembly, led by the NATO president, Mr. Willy de Clercq. President Berisha once again stressed that we remain determined to integrate Albania into Euro-Atlantic structures and, in particular, into military ones such as NATO.
