NOW IN TIRANA THERE ARE ALSO THE STUDENTS

KRUJË KUJ JEPIN TONË - Reportage - Reportage KRUJË KUJ JEPIN TONË Now that Tirana has been transformed into the center of democracy and they are gathering in front of the Prime Minister’s Office and raising their voices against this government, it is clear that this is a conscious act and not a spontaneous display. If not enough has yet been done for the university, for the dormitories, for scholarships, for student life, that does not mean that students should remain silent. They entered the Albanian political scene precisely when politics was feeling the greatest need for morality and idealism. In these difficult years of transition, students have experienced fatigue, disappointment, and poverty as well. But they have not yet lost the ability to react. Now in Tirana there are also the students. This is an event that deserves to be read not only as a protest, but as a sign of the return of civic spirit. They have not come only to ask for more bread, more heating, better conditions. They have also come to demand more dignity. Because the university is not only a building where lectures are given, but also a space where the free person is formed. And when the free person feels offended, he speaks out. In this sense, the students’ movement is not detached from the life of the country. It is part of it. It speaks of the crisis, unemployment, prices, the lack of trust, the fading hope. But it also speaks just as much about the fact that Albania cannot move forward by leaving young people outside decision-making. The students of Tirana are reminding society that democracy is not sustained by words alone. It requires participation, it requires protest, it requires courage. And in this sense, their presence today in front of the centers of power is proof that the country still has moral energy. Now in Tirana there are also the students. (ATSH)

The President’s and the Government’s interest in Shkodra and its prospects

It was a special pleasure for me to await the President’s praises, the problems that cannot be solved by external pressure, the logic of governance through knowledge of the conditions in which the country finds itself. ... [?] If things move forward along the path of reforms, the citizens of Shkodra will benefit from improved infrastructure, the revival of economic life, foreign aid, and increased investments. The Government and the President are interested in the fate of this city and in its prospects. (ATSH)

Message from the Association of Political Persecuted to the journalists of the Journalism Congress in Slovakia of Greece

Feeling sincere appreciation for the invitation sent to our Association to become part of your forum, we convey to you our fraternal greetings. We value the importance of press freedom, freedom of speech, and solidarity among journalists and citizens in defense of democracy. We know very well how heavy the price of free speech has been in countries emerging from dictatorship. For this reason, the experience of persecuted Albanians is also a moral testimony to the importance of independent journalism. Today, as Albania is building its democratic institutions, we believe that international cooperation among journalists will help in the protection of human rights and historical memory. Sincerely, THE ASSOCIATION OF POLITICAL PERSECUTED OF ALBANIA (ATSH)
