SOME FEATURES OF THE NEW ELECTIONS IN THE PD

SOME FEATURES OF THE NEW ELECTIONS IN THE PD Opinions about the organization of the election process in the Democratic Party are varied. Some see it as an internal democratic exercise, others as a new phase in consolidating the leadership structures, while part of the membership expects this process to bring a renewal of the political elite at the grassroots level. According to assessments made so far, in many branches of the party an increase in members' participation in meetings and debate has been noticed. New candidacies have been presented alongside figures already well known in the PD structures. This has been seen as a sign of growing internal competition and of increased interest in the party's political life. One of the most frequently mentioned elements in the discussions is the need for greater transparency in voting and counting procedures. On the other hand, supporters of the process stress that it is being carried out in accordance with the party statute and organizational rules. Finally, special importance is attached to the fact that the new elections may affect not only the internal representation of the PD, but also its political role in the country.

IS OPPOSITION NOT LIKED IN TODAY'S STATE?

In recent years, noticeable changes have appeared in public life in Albania and in the way institutions are perceived. Apparently, the opposition and the majority continue to offer different interpretations of the pace of reforms, the functioning of the state, and democratic standards. In this political climate, debate often shifts from argument to polemics, while the public waits for concrete solutions to everyday issues such as the economy, employment, and security. The article raises questions about the role of the opposition in the current situation and about the perception citizens have of it.
