The chairman of the PDSH, Mr. Eduard Selimi, and its vice-chairman and parliamentary group member, Mr. Ali Spahia, take part Given the chaotic situation of recent years and the challenges the country is currently facing, party organizations need to do better organizational work in order to mobilize the membership more, and not only the membership, but the people as well. At the meeting organized yesterday in Shkodër, with the broad participation of party members from the district as well as organizational structures at section, subsection, and group level, and their leaders, the chairman of the branch party, Mr. Ardian Muka, focused in particular on the problems that have arisen during the governance of the PDSH, which are the result of non-active work by the members, as well as of poor organization. He analyzed the work done so far by the sections and pointed out the shortcomings that must be overcome for a greater activation of democracy within the party. In this context, a stronger spirit of debate, criticism and self-criticism, the strengthening of ties with the base, and broader inclusion of intellectuals and specialists were called for. Further discussions addressed issues of work with the masses, economic and social problems, the situation in the city and in the countryside, as well as the need to increase citizens' confidence in democratic reforms. The meeting was attended and addressed by the chairman of the PDSH, Mr. Eduard Selimi, and its vice-chairman and that of the parliamentary group, Mr. Ali Spahia. They emphasized the need to strengthen the organization, enforce party discipline, and increase contacts with the electorate. (ATSH)

Why are the intellectuals coming to their party?

The intellectual conscience is working more honestly and more than the PD. In the district of Pukë, in town and in the countryside, a new movement of rapprochement with the Democratic Party has begun. Teachers, doctors, engineers, agronomists and economists are once again drawing closer to their party, seeing in it the force that keeps the road to reforms and pluralism open. It is no coincidence that many of them, who had left during the difficult years of the transition, are returning with the conviction that democracy cannot move forward without the active participation of the intellectual elite. According to discussions at the grassroots level, one of the main reasons is the more open climate of debate and the possibility of making a concrete contribution to solving community problems. In this spirit, party structures have been instructed to work more closely with intellectuals, listen to their views and include them in decision-making. (ATSH)
