LESSONS FROM THE IDEALS OF LIBERATION 90 AND MARCH 92 are valued when we make mistakes
Pluralist political life and pluralism are complex and complicated. The lessons of the ideals of freedom, democracy and the rule of law take on special value precisely in difficult times, when the mistakes of politics and institutions become more noticeable. In this context, the author pauses over developments after 1990 and the experience of March 1992, highlighting that mistakes should not be hidden, but should be analyzed responsibly, so that society can move forward. Referring to the Albanian political reality, the article raises questions about relations between political forces, the role of the opposition, the responsibility of government and the need for a democratic ethic. These ideas are developed through a broad debate, in which elements of historical analysis and political reflection are intertwined. (Continues on page 4)
THE REPUTATION OF PD IS ALWAYS GROWING
From the activities and conferences of PD in the districts
300 new members joined the PD organization in Pogradec. In Pogradec, a few days ago, the 7th Conference of this branch of the Democratic Party was held, with 200 delegates present, elected from around 1,500 new members admitted in recent months to this PD branch. The conference elected the new Council of 55 members. The guests who greeted the conference were the chairman of PD, Mr. Eduard Selami, the deputy for this area Genc Pollo, as well as the prefect of Pogradec. During the conference work, remarks were made about several PD leaders in the district, who should resign because of a number of weaknesses in the management of the branch. Several candidacies were proposed. Likewise, after the complaint of the neighborhood no. 4 group section, the chairman of this neighborhood was dismissed. At the end of the proceedings, the conference elected the branch chairman, Mr. Albert Xhaferri, and the delegates of the Pogradec district to the party's General Assembly. At the PDSH branch conference in Vlorë, the broad participation and the level of discussion showed that the lively work of the party in this district has moved forward. In the absence of the youth forum secretary for health reasons, the report was presented by the Vice-Chairman of this forum. The district deputy and, on behalf of the branch, Mr. Sali Shehu and the guest from the center took part in this conference. The discussions were dominated by the difficult economic problems facing the Vlorë district as well as the measures that must be taken to solve them. Special attention was given to the problem of the degeneration of morals and the spread of negative phenomena appearing during the economic transition, as well as the need to fight them decisively. At the close of the conference, the branch council of 69 members and its chairman, Mr. Enver Krosi, were elected. In Pukë, a series of activities are being held for the further consolidation of PD in this district. On the basis of the expansion in the number of members and supporters, confirmed also at the conference recently held, a new district council made up of 19 members has been elected. In the report of the neighborhood and village organizations, an increase in political activities as well as strengthening the moral image of the party representatives was requested. Meanwhile, there have also been efforts for closer cooperation with the structures of local government and the administration. According to data coming from this district, in recent months 60 new members have also been admitted to the party. In Peshkopi, the PDSH branch conference elected its new chairman as well as its leading forums. The discussions focused on the analysis of the political and economic situation in the district, as well as on the need to increase the opposition and organizational role of the branch. It was emphasized that the party must be closer to the problems of the population and create lasting bridges of communication with the different strata of the city and the countryside. The delegates also approved several recommendations for expanding political activity at the base.
Achievements in carrying out the reform are an assessment of PDSH policy
ELBASAN At the conference session of the PDSH organization for Elbasan, among other things, it was emphasized that the implementation of reforms and structural changes has been one of the main factors in the progress of the economy and the life of the city. In the discussions by the delegates, it was underlined that the role of the party in guiding democratic processes and preserving social stability remains important. Improvements in supply, commercial activity and some public services were mentioned, considering them the result of the reforms undertaken. Some of the participants called for the party structures to work more closely with citizens, to listen to their concerns and to intervene more actively in solving social problems. A call was made for greater discipline in the administration and for strengthening responsibility at all levels. The conference assessed that the results achieved constitute support for the policy of the PDSH and an incentive for continuing the reforms.
Albania, an open country for investment

Korea and Japan are the countries that have received the most foreign investment. They can be counted among the examples of countries that benefited from creating favorable conditions for foreign investment. In his speech, the President of the Republic pointed out that Albania is following the path of reforms and that encouraging foreign investment remains one of the government's important priorities. He stressed that the country offers numerous opportunities for foreign capital, especially in the sectors of tourism, agriculture, light industry and services. The need to improve infrastructure and the legal framework was also discussed, with the aim of creating the safest possible climate for business. The participants in the activity were introduced to the efforts being made for the integration of the Albanian economy into international markets and for strengthening cooperation with foreign partners.

The representative of the foundation “Open Society” in Albania held a meeting with the President of the Republic, during which the foundation's activities and possibilities for cooperation on projects of public interest were discussed. The importance of support for education, culture and civic initiatives was assessed in the meeting. It was also discussed the need to strengthen democratic institutions and to foster a climate of tolerance and cooperation in society.

On Monday morning around 9:00, in front of the vehicles of the Vlora police station and police department, a damaged Ford car was on display, attracting everyone's attention. It was there as evidence of the event of the previous night, in which a person was killed/died. According to the police, the vehicle had crashed on a stretch of road and its driver had died. But other versions also circulated in the city, casting doubt on the event's purely accidental nature. Relatives and citizens called for a fuller and more transparent investigation. The relevant authorities are continuing checks to clarify the causes and full circumstances of this event. (Continues on page 5)
We correct ourselves when we make mistakes
