DECREE FOR SPECIAL PROTECTION OF THE SOLDIER

President of the Republic Mr. Sali Berisha yesterday decreed an important decision in favor of the military category. This decision provides for state protection for soldiers discharged from the army. The initiative for this decree was taken by the Democratic Party at the insistence of the Committee for Public Order and SHIK. This committee had been concerned about the living conditions of soldiers who had left the army. Most of them have remained without work and without any support. Many of them, even when they were capable specialists, have not been able to find placement. The decree creates the possibility of a more orderly treatment of this category and aims to mitigate the social consequences of reforms in the army.

THE HYPOCRISY OF THE LEADERS OF THE PS

Is Rajerson the U.S. representative in Albania or not? - for the first time in our foreign policy, the PS leaders do not mention Nano - At its meeting yesterday, the PS discussed its accusations against the U.S. envoy with representation, Julian. Further on, the deputy with the same premise, Secretary General Rexhep Mejdani presented to the media a statement saying that in the United States concern was growing over the state of democracy in Albania. Rajerson was also mentioned in this statement, implying that he represented the official American position. But his very position in Tirana and the way his name was used in this statement sparked numerous reactions. In its reaction, the PS did not avoid political language and used the issue to attack the government. The article underlines that the PS leaders have maintained a double standard in handling international statements and that, for the first time in their foreign policy, Nano is not mentioned.

BOLINO CONTINUES THE DISINFORMATION OR...

Mr. Bolino, in yesterday’s article about "ZP" has committed a blatant disinformation. By distorting and chopping up the extraordinary sentence of the State Department spokesman, he seeks to create the impression that the American stance toward Albania has changed. In reality, the full text of the statement has a different meaning and does not match the interpretation he gave. Manipulating quotations is part of an old propaganda method. Our newspaper views with concern this attempt to distort the truth and to use the name of American institutions for domestic political consumption. However, this "incident" has another explanation as well. No later than yesterday, foreign radio broadcast a piece in which Rajerson's name was mentioned and used as an alibi in the opposition's polemics. This is a well-known way of creating smokescreens and hiding the lack of arguments. Any impartial reader can understand where the truth lies if they refer to the full document. Albania and the USA have a serious relationship, one that cannot be used in the service of day-to-day battles. For this reason, the media must be responsible and avoid fabrication. Otherwise, it loses credibility in the eyes of the public.
