NANO IN THE DOCK
Former communist prime minister Nano will finally answer before justice for his corruption
The Socialist Party amnesty could not save him when the rights that Albanians had to return to their homes, to reclaim as their own property what had been taken from them by force, and to enjoy the fruits of their labor were trampled on, but justice is pursuing him.
-The Socialist Party amnesty could not save him when the rights that Albanians had to return to their homes, to reclaim as their own property what had been taken from them by force, and to enjoy the fruits of their labor were trampled on. As prime minister of the country, Nano exercised power to obstruct reform and preserve the old structures.
With a statement that would make clear that the violation of rights would no longer continue, it would prevent Nano or his amnestizers from continuing to cover up the corruption and abuses that he and his people have committed. This would ease the suffering and misery of the people and create a climate of trust in the state institutions.
For four years Nano has pursued a blocking policy toward privatization and the land law. Instead of acting to free the country from the consequences of communism, he encouraged and prolonged them. After blocking the decrees and blocking the implementation of reforms, he plunged people into conflict.
Instead of rule of law and the public interest, he promoted clientelism and corruption. His power was used for party and personal interests.

On 22 July 1993, the investigation into former prime minister Fatos Nano was completed and the file was handed over to the Tirana Court for trial. He is accused of abuse of office and misuse of state funds.
Instead of being on the side of reform, Nano became an obstacle to it. He used his post to favor his inner circle and to strike at political opponents. This could not remain without accountability.
The prosecution presented numerous materials which, according to it, prove the guilt of the former prime minister. His trial is seen as a test for strengthening the rule of law and establishing equality before the law.
MP Mazeo and the mayor of Puka release Dunanë as the wartime Hoxhist illegals
-They were escorted to the customs post by Montenegrin authorities-
According to the source of the information, around 8:30 p.m. on 7 February 1994, the PS deputy and member of its foreign commission, the so-called Petrit Mazreku, accompanied by the chairman of the Pluralist Executive Committee of the district of Puka, Pëllumb [?], and three other people, arrived at the customs post of Hani i Hotit.
The persons in question had come there in a “ZP” vehicle with Yugoslav plates (which had been attached while traveling on Albanian soil) and a “Mercedes” car with Montenegrin plates. Accompanied by several Yugoslav officials, they presented themselves at the customs post and were questioned by the Albanian border forces about the purpose of their arrival.
According to the testimony of border officials, the PS deputy and his companions did not have proper documentation and their movement raised serious suspicions. Because of inconsistencies in their statements, they were kept under observation.
The accompanying persons asked to cross the border on the grounds that they were carrying out an official visit, but no such mission was confirmed by preliminary checks.
On this occasion the relevant bodies notified the highest authorities and requested immediate clarification regarding this suspicious entry.

“Republics” Failed in Berat
-A war on terrorism is being tested, treason continues in some districts-
-Democrats show teachers their place-
Yesterday in the education sector, several people linked to a former senior functionary of the PPSH caused an incident in one of the schools of Berat. They tried to stir up division and tension, but the reaction of the citizens was immediate.
The houses and premises where these people met have been under surveillance for some time. According to sources, attempts were made to organize a “republic”-type movement, but without success.
Under pressure from public opinion and the law-enforcement bodies, the instigators withdrew. Teachers and citizens condemned these actions and called for order to be restored.
The school continued classes normally and there were no other consequences. Vigilance has increased in the city to prevent the repetition of such events.

The PS leadership distributes Nano's autographs by order
These days there are rumors that in the offices of their party photographs and autographs of Fatos Nano are being distributed with the aim of presenting him as a persecuted “hero.” Sources say this is being done on orders from above.
The PS leadership is trying to create an atmosphere of victimhood for its leader, while the judicial process continues. Instead of political clarifications, it is using symbols and emotions.
This behavior is seen by the author as a sign of the deep crisis in the leadership of this party and of the lack of a real alternative for the country.
